MONROE, La. – Southeast Missouri (0-2) dropped a 13-4 decision to Louisiana-Monroe (2-0) Saturday afternoon.
ULM got ahead early with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
SEMO added a run in the second courtesy of a solo home run by
Justin Dirden to cut the Warhawks lead to 3-1.
ULM responded with four runs though to build a six-run advantage. Danny Desimone hit a grand slam to extend the Warhawks lead to 7-1.
Danny Wright blasted his first home run of the season over the right field wall in the fifth and
Austin Blazevic scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to make it an 8-3 game.
SEMO scored once more in the eighth inning on an RBI-single by
Andrew Keck before ULM tacked on four more runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Dirden and Keck each had two hits to lead the Redhawks. Dirden also scored two runs. The two combined for four of the team's six hits.
In his first career start,
Michael Hojnacki (0-1) suffered the loss. Hojnacki allowed five hits and eight runs, struck out one and walked two in 3.1 innings.
Four others, including
Collin Wilma,
Rance Pittman,
Nathan Bock and
Keegan Meyn took the mound for the Redhawks.
ULM finished with 12 hits, three of which came from Ryan Humeniuk.
