MOREHEAD, Ky.–
Alex Caldwell dropped in a career-high 29 points, but Southeast Missouri (4-18, 0-9) dropped a 90-74 decision to Morehead State (10-12, 4-5) Thursday night at Johnson Arena.
Caldwell recorded at least 20 points in his second-straight game and scored double figures for his team-high 15
th time this year. Twenty-two of Caldwell's points came in the second half.
Isaiah Gable drove hard to the basket and scored to give SEMO a 11-10 edge before MSU answered with a 17-0 run to build a double-digit lead in the first half.
The Redhawks missed five-straight field goals and went scoreless for five minutes until
Nygal Russell came off the bench to knock down a 3-pointer ending the drought with 9:51 left to play.
MSU expanded its run to 23-3 and took a 33-14 lead on Jordan Walker's dunk at the 8:29 mark.
SEMO battled back to narrow MSU's lead to 39-32 on a jumper by
Skyler Hogan a little under three minutes to go. The Eagles then regained a double-digit 48-36 lead at the half.
The Redhawks scored half their points from 3-point range knocking down six 3-pointers in the opening stanza. In his first career start for the injured

Jordan Love scored 10 points in the first 20 minutes.
Caldwell heated up to shoot 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from the field in the second half and scored 11 of his points during a 5:04 period to get SEMO within nine. His 3-pointer made it a 71-62 game with 7:07 to go.
That was as close as SEMO could get as MSU pulled away.
Caldwell shot 10-of-20 from the field, made two 3-pointers and sunk 7-of-8 free throws to lead the Redhawks. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out one assist in 32 minutes.
Russell followed with a career-best 16 points on 6-of-10 field goals. He made a team-high three 3-pointers.
Meanwhile, Love finished with 14 points and three rebounds in 29 minutes.
MSU started the game shooting 75 percent (12-of-16) from the field and never looked back. The Eagles wound up shooting 50.8 percent (31-of-61) for the game. MSU also outrebounded SEMO, 37-27.
Walker and Djimon Henson paced MSU with 21 points apiece.
Additionally, the Eagles assisted 23 of their 31 made field goals, outscored SEMO, 38-12, in the paint and collected six blocks.
SEMO closes out its four-game road stretch when it visits Eastern Kentucky Saturday.
