Redhawks Head to Peoria, Illinois, for the Bradley Intercollegiate Meet Friday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri cross country continues its 2019 season Friday at the Bradley Intercollegiate Meet held at Detweiller Park in Peoria, Illinois.
The women will race three miles at 5 p.m. followed by the men's 8K at 5:45 p.m. A total of 23 teams are set to compete at the meet, including Division I schools Chicago State, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Western Illinois and meet host Bradley.
The Redhawks opened their 2019 campaign on Aug. 30 at the Saluki Invite in Carbondale, Illinois. The SEMO women placed first while the men took second in the dual meet.
Carli Knott, a 2018 All-Ohio Valley Conference performer, led Southeast in the 5K with a time of 18:37.11 for third overall. Maddie Keller finished right after in a personal best 18:48.28 for fourth.
Hannah Eastman (sixth, 19:17.25), former Redhawks soccer player Katie Wegmann (eighth, 19:34.10), Mackenzie Pugh (11th, 19:58.32) and Claire Morrill (20:22.35, 14th) all made their Southeast cross country debuts in the race.
Danielle Mohrmann (20:09.33, 13th), Adrienne Brauer (20:33.50, 15th) and Joanne Hollings (21:11.53, 19th) also ran in the race for SEMO.
On the men's side, Chris Durr paced Southeast with a career-best 5K time of 16:19.93 for third overall.
Newcomers Aaron Modrow (sixth, 16:34.99), Caleb Cornelius (16:52.61, ninth) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Terrico Garrett (16:58.96, 10th) all scored for SEMO in their Redhawk debuts with the second, third and fourth fastest Southeast marks.
Austin Perkins (17:27.89, 12th), Griffin Bailey (17:44.63, 14th), Trevor Falco (17:45.40, 15th) and David Plunkett (18:53.59, 17th) also represented SEMO in the men's race.
After the Bradley Intercollegiate Meet on Friday, Southeast will trek to Columbia, Missouri, for the 2019 Mizzou Cross Country Challenge on Friday, Sept. 27 at Gans Creek Recreation Area. SEMO will compete against Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Drake, Illinois State, North Florida, Saint Louis, Southern Illinois, UMKC, Alabama-Birmingham and meet host Missouri. The women will run a 6K at 5 p.m. and the men will compete in an 8K at 5:30 p.m.
The Redhawks then return to Peoria, Illinois, for the 2019 Bradley Pink Classic Friday, Oct. 18 at Newman Golf Course.
