Redhawks Women Capture Team Title at Saluki Invite Friday as Men Take Second

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southeast Missouri women's cross country finished first overall at the Saluki Invite Friday at the SIU Cross Country Course. The Redhawks men placed second.
SEMO's women placed third, fourth, sixth, eighth and 11th to total 27 points in the meet with Southern Illinois (28 points).
Carli Knott, a 2018 All-Ohio Valley Conference performer, led Southeast in the 5K with a time of 18:37.11 for third. Maddie Keller finished right after in a personal best 18:48.28 for fourth.
Hannah Eastman was sixth (19:17.25) in her first career meet and former Redhawks soccer player Katie Wegmann finished eighth (19:34.10).
Mackenzie Pugh also made her Southeast debut and was clocked at 19:58.32 (11th).
Danielle Mohrmann (20:09.33, 13th), Claire Morrill (20:22.35, 14th), Adrienne Brauer (20:33.50, 15th) and Joanne Hollings (21:11.53, 19th) also ran in the race for SEMO.
The Redhawks men totaled 39 points for second as SIU finished with 19.
Chris Durr paced the Southeast men with a career-best 5K time of 16:19.93 for third overall.
Aaron Modrow posted the second fastest SEMO time of 16:34.99 for sixth in his first meet as a Redhawk.
Caleb Cornelius (16:52.61, ninth) and Terrico Garrett (16:58.96, 10th) also made their debuts.
Austin Perkins (17:27.89, 12th), Griffin Bailey (17:44.63, 14th), Trevor Falco (17:45.40, 15th) and David Plunkett (18:53.59, 17th) also represented SEMO in the race.
Kaitlyn Shea won the women's 5K with a time of 17:52.25 as an unattached runner.
The Southeast cross country team next travels to Peoria, Illinois, for the Bradley Intercollegiate Meet on Friday, Sept. 20 at Detweiller Park. The men will race an 8K at 5 p.m. and the women will run over three miles at 5:45 p.m.
