Southeast Falls to Belmont in First Round of the OVC Tournament

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –Southeast Missouri fell 65-74 to Belmont University at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana in the first round of the Ohio Valley Tournament. SEMO finished the season with a 13-17 record overall and 8-10 mark in conference play. 
 
Senior Adrianna Murphy posted 20 points and drained two three pointers in the season finale. 
 
Tesia Thompson would finish the game with 10 points and seven rebounds. 
 
Taelour Pruitt sank a three-pointer with 4:56 left in the first quarter to tie the game 6-6. Belmont returned with a 6-0 run in under a minute of play. 
 
Southeast went on a 6-0 to start the second quarter to take a 21-18 lead. 
 
SEMO outscored the Bruins 16-13 in the second quarter after shooting 66.7 percent to Belmont's 35.7 percent. Belmont's six three-pointers in the first half, was not enough to push them ahead of the Redhawks as the game was tied 31-31 at halftime. 
 
The Redhawks had an explosive third quarter, outscoring the Bruins 21-20. SEMO went 10-of-14 (.769) in this quarter. The Redhawks led by as much as eight points during this quarter.
 
At the end of the third, SEMO led the Bruins 51-50, only for Belmont go on a 10-6 run in the final quarter of play. 
 
SEMO scored 36 points in the paint and outscored the Belmont bench 17-6. 
 
Southeast led for over 19 minutes of play, but were unable to hold off the Bruins in the final minutes of play. Belmont posted 24 points to SEMO's 14 in the final quarter. 
 
Darby Maggard, OVC Player of the Year, posted 21 points, and was held to just three long shots. Ellie Harmeyer, recorded 24 points and 14 rebounds, being the only person in the game to reach double-figures in rebounds.
