PADUCAH, Ky. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (8-6, 1-1 OVC) earned victories at the second doubles position and singles wins from
Romana Tarajova,
Kseniya Zonova and
Sneha Sinha but was edged by Belmont, 4-3, Saturday at the McCracken County High School Tennis Indoor Facility.

The match was originally scheduled for the Redhawks Tennis Complex in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, but was moved indoors to the McCracken County High School Tennis Indoor Facility due to inclement weather.

Southeast dropped the doubles point to open the dual as the Bruins secured wins at the first and third positions.
Isabella Krupa and
Teona Velkoska registered their 11th dual doubles win in 2019 when they beat Drew Hawkins and Lauren Carelli, 6-0, at the second slot.

When the meet switched to singles, the Redhawks snatched a 2-1 lead with victories at the first and second positions.Â

Tarajova improved her dual record to 8-3 at no. 1 singles when she ousted Hawkins, 6-2, 6-4. Zonova then beat Peyton Lee, 6-1, 6-4, to extend her win streak to seven (9-4 at no. 2 singles).Â

Belmont responded with victories at the third and fourth singles spots to reclaim the advantage, 3-2. Erin Allen beat
Isabella Krupa, 6-3, 6-3, and Maria Plaksina fought past Velkoska, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.Â

Sinha then evened the dual, 3-3, with her seventh consecutive victory (7-1 at no. 6 singles). She overcame Sarah Brackin at the sixth position, 6-2, 6-3.Â

Terra Sheldon sealed the dual win for the Bruins at no. 5 singles. Sheldon beat
Anais Emelie, 6-4, 6-4.Â

Southeast next hosts Tennessee State Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Redhawks Tennis Complex. Sunday's meet was rescheduled from Friday because of inclement weather.  Â
