Shephard Scores Career-High 31 Points in Loss to Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. - Carrie Shephard recorded a career-high 31 points as Southeast Missouri (3-1) fell to Eastern Michigan, 69-64, Tuesday.

Shephard went 6-of-17 (.352) from beyond the arc, hitting four of those shots in the second half alone.

SEMO won the tip and Shephard made a three to start the game, the Redhawks only lead of the contest. EMU responded with an 11-0 run and led, 17-10, after the first quarter.

EMU built a 35-21 halftime lead.

The Redhawks outscored the Eagles, 43-34, in the second half and, 20-12, in the third quarter. SEMO outrebounded EMU, 19-5, in the third quarter, as well. Shephard had nine points and Denisha Gardener posted five rebounds to help the Redhawks get within two possessions, 47-41.

SEMO again outscored EMU in the final 10 minutes and closed EMU's lead to 53-51 on Jessie Harsberger's jumper at the 5:42 mark. 

Shephard knocked down a 3-pointer to make it a 65-64 game with 26 seconds left, but the Eagles made four free throws to hold off the Redhawks.

Shephard finished at 11-of-27 from the field and made 3-of-4 free throws to go along with her six 3-pointers. Harsberger led SEMO with 10 rebounds and Roshala Scott scored 11 points off the bench.

SEMO outrebounded EMU, 50-40, and held a 20-12 advantage on the offensive end. 

Aaliyah Stanley led the Eagles with 24 points.

SEMO remains on the road to face Purdue Fort Wayne Thursday.
