Southeast Set to Compete at the 2019 NCAA Midwest Regional Friday in Stillwater, Oklahoma

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri cross country treks to Stillwater, Oklahoma, for the 2019 NCAA Division I Midwest Regional Friday at the Oklahoma State University Cross Country Course. The women will run a 6K at 10:30 a.m. followed the men's 10K at 11:30 a.m.
The Redhawks men will take on #5 Iowa State, #7 Tulsa, #23 Oklahoma State while the SEMO women will compete against #22 Illinois, #25 Oklahoma State and #26 Minnesota.
The Southeast women enter the Regional after finishing fourth as a team at the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championship held Nov. 2 at the SIUE Cross Country Course in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Maddie Keller and Carli Knott both placed in the top-10 to earn All-OVC honors. Keller placed fifth overall in the 5K, crossing the finish line in a personal-best 17:57.3 for First-Team All-OVC laurels. Keller's finish is the best Redhawk women's finish at the Championship since Rebekah Lawson was the runner-up at the 2013 Championship in Morehead, Kentucky. The award also marked the first career All-OVC honor for Keller.
Knott garnered her second career Second-Team All-OVC cross country laurel with a 10th place finish in 18:16.9.
Hannah Eastman, Katie Wegmann and Danielle Mohrmann rounded out the Redhawk scorers for fourth overall in the women's team competition. Eastman was 29th in the race in a personal-best 19:02.2 and Wegmann followed in a career-best 19:03.6 for 30th. Mohrmann completed the race in 19:15.3 for 38th.
The Southeast men finished eighth (202 points) as a team and were led by Chris Durr who completed the 8K in 33rd. Durr finished in 26:01.7 to pace the Southeast men. Griffin Bailey placed 40th with a mark of 26:23.8.
Freshmen Caleb Cornelius (27:10.9, 51st), Aaron Modrow (27:21.8, 54th) and Terrico Garrett (27:34.0, PR, 58th) rounded out the men's scorers.
In 2018, the SEMO women tied for 18th in the 6K at the NCAA Division I Midwest Regional held at the Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Illinois.
Sydney O'Brien matched a Southeast women's program-best individual finish of 43rd. O'Brien tied Rebekah Lawson's (21:29) mark of 43rd set at the 2013 NCAA Midwest Regional in Ames, Iowa, clocking in at 21:28.7.
O'Brien was one of three members of the SEMO team to finish in the top 100 as Kaitlyn Shea and Rachel Hutchcraft placed 71st and 100th, respectively. Shea registered her best finish at the regional with a time of 21.48.4 and Hutchcraft posted a personal-best 6K mark of 22:04.6.
Carli Knott (22:05.8, 103rd) and Anna Thomas (PR, 23:01.9, 171st) also scored for Southeast while Natalie Kopplin (23:25.5, 192nd) and Jane Boessen (PR, 23:50.4, 206th) rounded out the seven runners that competed at the 2018 Regional.

Dan Plunkett paced the men with a time of 32:56.1 for his first top-100 (97th) finish at a NCAA Midwest Regional. Griffin Bailey (33:42.0, 140th), Chris Durr (PR, 34:57.5, 183rd), Curtis Reed (35:15.1, 185th) and James Kosbar (36:13.0, 200th) also represented Southeast in the 10K.
