Southeast to Compete in Peoria, Illinois, for Second Time this Season at Bradley ‘Pink’ Classic Friday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri cross country returns to competition after a three-week break Friday at the Bradley 'Pink' Classic in Peoria, Illinois, at the Newman Golf Course.
Friday's meet marks the second time the Redhawks head to Peoria, Illinois, this season after concluding the 2018 campaign at the Newman Golf Course for the NCAA Midwest Regional Meet.
The SEMO men will run an 8K at 2:30 p.m. followed by the Redhawk women's 6K at 3:15 p.m. Both Southeast teams are running in seeded Red races as opposed to the White races which will occur earlier in the day.
The Redhawks will compete against Loyola (Ill.), Missouri-Kansas City, Marquette, Illinois, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Drake, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, Creighton, Illinois-Chicago, DePaul, Valparaiso, Nebraska-Omaha, Morton College, Central Michigan, Wright State, Bowling Green, Illinois State, and meet host, Bradley, along with Ohio Valley Conference schools UT Martin, SIUE, and Eastern Illinois.
Southeast last competed at Missouri's Gans Creek Classic held at the Gans Creek Recreation Area in Columbia, Missouri, on Friday, Sept. 27. The SEMO women placed seventh out 11 teams while the Redhawk men took 10th.
Carli Knott and Maddie Keller posted top-15 finishes to lead the Southeast women. Knott who was awarded OVC Female Co-Runner of the Week on Sept. 24 paced SEMO with a time of 22:09.7 for 11th overall out of a field of 101. Keller placed 15th in a personal best 22:24.3.
The duo of Knott and Keller finished second and third in the women's three mile race in Southeast's previous trek to Peoria, Illinois, for the Bradley Intercollegiate Sept. 20 at Detweiller Park.
Hannah Eastman posted a top-50 finish of 23:48.7 (45th) at the Gans Creek Classic. Danielle Mohrmann (71st, 24:38.1) and Katie Wegmann (73rd, 24:47.8) rounded out the SEMO scorers at the Gans Creek Classic while Adrienne Brauer (76th, 24:53.0), Mackenzie Pugh (91st, 26:03.6) and Jane Boessen (100th, 27:01.5) also ran in the race for SEMO.
Chris Durr led the SEMO men in the 8K at the Gans Creek Classic, clocking in at 26:54.0 for 39th. He also had the top Redhawks mark of 26:53.2 for 23rd at the Bradley Intercollegiate.
Aaron Modrow completed the Gans Creek Classic in 28:00.5 for 59th and Kory Snyder notched a time of 28:11.8 for 62nd. Terrico Garrett (64th, 28:23.8) and Trevor Falco (72nd, 29:59.1) were also scorers for Southeast at the Gans Creek Classic. Austin Perkins also ran in the race (30:29.7, 73rd) for the SEMO men.
The last time the Redhawks ran at the Newman Golf Course for the 2018 NCAA Midwest Regional Meet, Sydney O'Brien matched SEMO's best individual finish of 43rd (21:28.7) previously set by Rebekah Lawson's (21:29) at the 2013 NCAA Midwest Regional in Ames, Iowa.
Kaitlyn Shea and Rachel Hutchcraft both placed in the top 100 with finishes of 71st (21.48.4) and 100th (PR, 22:04.6), respectively.
Dan Plunkett paced the men with a time of 32:56.1 for his first top-100 (97th) finish at a NCAA Midwest Regional.
