NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri (10-10, 5-4) dropped a 91-57 decision to Ohio Valley Conference leader Belmont (15-5, 8-1) Thursday at the Curb Event Center.
Belmont's 91 points marked a season-high as the Bruins used a 25-point first quarter to fuel its win.
The Bruins held a 42-23 halftime advantage after sinking eight 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes. Belmont also went on a 9-0 run and led, 15-2, early on and SEMO never recovered.
Belmont led the entire game and built its largest advantage at 35 with 3:18 remaining in the contest.
A total of 45 points came from behind the arc for the Bruins who hit 15-of-33. Meanwhile, SEMO shot just 15.8 percent (3-of-19) from long range.
Tesia Thompson turned in her team-high seventh double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead SEMO. It was Thompson's 11th-straight double-digit scoring game and 17th this season.
Kennedi Allen added a season-high four blocks. The Redhawks outscored the Bruins 23-18 off the bench and 30-18 in the paint.
A total of five Bruins scored double figures with Maddie Wright paving the way with 20 points.Darby Maggard followed with 17 points, while Ellie Harmeyer contributed a double-double 16 points and 14 boards.
Belmont shot 51.7 percent (31-of-60) from the field for the night.
The Redhawks remain in Nashville to play Tennessee State Saturday.
