COLUMBIA, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis dropped their 2019 season opener Friday to Arkansas State, 6-1, at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.
 
The Red Wolves took the doubles point to open the meet. 
Romana Tarajova and 
Manuela Barriga fell to Amelia Guevremont and Pornpawee Pramethong, 6-2, at the no. 3 slot before 
Isabella Krupa and 
Teona Velkoska seized the Redhawks first dual doubles win of the campaign over Shelby King and Shannon O'Brien, 7-5.
 
Kseniya Zonova and 
Sneha Sinha then dropped a 7-5 decision to Anita Detlava and Berta Masdevall Masip at the top position. 
 
Arkansas State then won third singles to extend its lead to 2-0 in the meet. 
 
Tarajova put the Redhawks on the board with a 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 victory over Pramethong at no. 1 singles.
 
The Red Wolves then pushed their advantage to 4-1 with back-to-back tiebreaker wins at fourth and second singles.
 
Masip outlasted Velkoska, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6, and King fought past Zonova, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6.
 
Arkansas State closed out the meet with wins at the fifth and sixth slots. 
 
Southeast next faces Mizzou Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Mizzou Tennis Complex to continue its 2019 dual season.
