Redhawks Drop 78-60 Decision to Austin Peay

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.Skyler Hogan scored 16 points and Sage Tolbert narrowly missed a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds as Southeast Missouri (6-10, 1-2) dropped a 78-60 decision to Austin Peay (11-5, 3-0) Thursday night at the Show Me Center.

SEMO scored just 60 points, its second-lowest total this season and lowest in three Ohio Valley Conference games.

"Austin Peay is a difficult team to play against because of its physicality on both the offensive and defensive end," said SEMO head coach Rick Ray. "Our offense was so stagnant and we didn't score when we had opportunities."

APSU led the entire game and answered with a 12-0 run after Alex Caldwell drained a 3-pointer to get SEMO within three (14-11) with 10:28 remaining in the first half.

After that run, the Governors led by double figures for the final 28:15 of the contest.

Zach Glotta's 3-pointer gave APSU its largest lead of the night at 51-31 with 15:11 left to play before the Governors polished off their 11th win of the season.

SEMO started slow by shooting just 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from the field and trailed, 37-20, at the half.

The Redhawks shot the ball much better in the second half making 13-of-25 field goals for 52 percent.

Hogan went 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-7 at the free throw line en route to his fifth-straight double-digit scoring game and eighth in nine starts.

Tolbert tallied double figures in the rebound column for his team-high fourth time this year. He added 4-of-6 field goals.

Caldwell, in his first career start, also scored eight points, while Jonathan Dalton chipped in nine.

Ledarrius Brewer, who missed two games due to a hip injury, scored six points off the bench in his return. Four of those points came at the free throw line.

Terry Taylor scored a game-high 17 points to lead four APSU starters in double figures. Steve Harris followed with 12, while Jarrett Givens and Glotta each had 11.

The Governors shot 52.5 percent (31-of-59) from the field for the night and made 57.1 percent (16-of-28) of their attempts in the second half alone.

SEMO closes out its three-game homestand against rival and OVC leader Murray State Saturday.
