TEMPE, Ariz.- Southeast Missouri (1-4) fell to Arizona State (2-1) by a score of 4-0 Sunday afternoon. This match concluded the Sun Devil Desert Tournament that was hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Arizona.
The Redhawks got off seven shots on the day, although it did not come close to ASU's 24.
Emily Holten and
Lauren Welker both had a solo shot on-goal.
Esmie Gonzales recorded two consecutive shots in a matter of seconds. Both were blocked by a Sun Devil.
ASU scored first at the 23rd minute. This was right after the first water break of the game. The Sun Devils scored three of their goals in the second half of the game.
SEMO recorded six saves in the game.
Maddie Gleeson played the first half and recorded four saves and
Bailey Redden played the second stanza.
Maddie Karstens,
Lauren Kaempfe and
Bri Caccavale all played the full 90 minutes, despite the temperature reaching triple digits at game time.
The Redhawks return to action Sunday (Sept. 9) at Houck Field when they take on Oral Roberts in their final non-conference game.
