CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. –Southeast Missouri completed its 2018-19 men's basketball roster with the addition of combo guard Jordan Love.
A native of Durham, North Carolina, Love (6'5", 165) joins the Redhawks from Voyager Academy.
As a senior, Love averaged 20 points, 2.2 assists, 4.3 rebounds and two steals per game. He was the North Central Athletic Conference Basketball Player of the Year and claimed North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association All-District 6 Team honors. Love was also Voyager Academy's Most Valuable Player and finished his career with 1,000 points.
"We had the opportunity to observe and evaluate Jordan during the July recruiting period on many occasions and we came away knowing that this is a young man we definitely wanted in our program," said SEMO head coach
Rick Ray. "Jordan is a talented, true combo guard that has tremendous length for his position.
"We think that he can grow into a player that is able to seamlessly move between the shooting guard and point guard positions, while being a legitimate threat to be a matchup problem for the opposing team. Jordan comes from a strong family and has been raised in a way where he will fit right in with our current players."
In 2016-17, Love averaged 16 points, 2.3 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals en route to First-Team All-Conference and All-District accolades.
"I never like to pick favorites, but Jordan was one of my favorite players to ever coach," said Voyager Academy coach Anthony Simmons. "Basketball is his playground and when he gets going his game energizes your entire team. He shines brightest in the biggest moments and his best basketball is ahead of him. Off the court, he has a constant smile on his face and he can relate with anybody. I'm ready to see what's next for Jordan."
