PADUCAH, Ky. – Despite losing the doubles point, Southeast Missouri women's tennis (4-10, 1-4 OVC) rallied off three singles wins in its 4-3 loss to Murray State (11-6, 5-0 OVC) Saturday morning at the McCracken County High School indoor courts.
 
Oleksandra Doroshenko, Kseniya Zonova and Kelly Sicha each recorded singles victories for the Redhawks.
 
Murray State opened up the contest with doubles wins at the second and third positions to take the doubles point and a 1-0 early lead in the dual.  
 
Sophomore Isabella Krupa returned to the lineup for the first time since Jan. 27 against Northern Illinois. Krupa teamed up with Anais Emelie at no. 3 doubles but fell to Sara Loncarevic and Stasya Sharapova, 6-3.
 
When the competition switched to singles, the Racers claimed back-to-back singles wins before the Redhawks cut the deficit to 3-2 with singles wins of their own.
 
Zonova improved to 6-3 in 2018 at no. 2 singles when she beat Sharapova, 7-5, 6-2.
 
Doroshenko then battled her way past Claire Chang at the top singles position. After taking the first set, 7-6, Chang evened the match with a 7-5 second set win. Doroshenko won the match when she outlasted Chang, 6-2.
 
Murray State then claimed the dual meet win at no. 6 singles before Kelly Sicha earned her second straight conference win. Sicha fought past Anja Loncarevic, 7-6, 0-6, 10-2, at the fifth singles slot.
 
Saturday's dual meet with the Racers was moved to an indoor venue and rescheduled for earlier in the day with rain in the forecast in the Cape Girardeau, Missouri, area.
 
The Redhawks head to Martin, Tennessee for a mid-week matchup with UT Martin on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Southeast then faces Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Alabama, Saturday at 10 a.m.
