Martin, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri women's basketball fell to the UT Martin Skyhawks 72-65 on Saturday.

Martin opened up the game with an effective full court press, forcing a turnover from Southeast on four of their first five possessions.

The Skyhawks were able to get going on the offensive end early, with a Kendall Spray knocking down multiple perimeter shots.

Southeast turned it around the last few minutes of the quarter, forcing a couple turnovers and knocking down a few shots of their own from the outside.

UT Martin led 16-13 after one.
Â
Southeast remained hot on the offensive end to begin the second, taking the lead 24-19 after knocking down a couple more shots from the perimeter.

The Skyhawks went on an 8-0 at the end of the quarter, and were able to reclaim the lead heading into half.

Martin led Southeast 34-33 after two.
Â
The Skyhawks went on a 7-0 run early in the third quarter to stretch the lead to eight.

Southeast started to get it going on the offensive end later in the period, and managed to cut lead to just three at the end of the third. Southeast went 8-9 from the field in the quarter.
UT Martin led 54-51 entering the fourth quarter.

Southeast opened up the fourth attacking the basket and getting easy buckets inside, taking the lead 56-55 at the 7:46 mark.

Martin answered the Redhawks run with a 6-0 of its own, taking the lead back at 61-56 with five minutes left.

Southeast cut it to one with under four minutes remaining, but UT Martin went on a 7-0 right after to extend its lead back to eight.

SEMO knocked down a couple big shots, but was unable to comeback in the final minutes, eventually falling by seven.

Ashton Luttrull led the way for the Redhawks with 18 points.

Iyanna McCurdy chipped in 11 points and five assists.

Southeast returns home for its next two games. They next battle the EIU Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in annual "Pink Up" game. The first 250 students will receive free pink T-shirts presented by Plato's closet.
