Looking to Snap the Streak
Southeast Missouri will look to end Jacksonville State's 36-game winning streak in Ohio Valley Conference games. That streak is the longest active conference winning streak in Division I. San Diego (Pioneer) is second with 21 in a row, while Central Florida (American Athletic Conference) has the longest winning streak in FBS with 11. JSU head coach John Grass has never lost a conference game.

Series History
The Redhawks and Gamecocks meet for the 23rd time Saturday. Jacksonville State owns a 17-5 lead in the all-time series. The Gamecocks have won each of the last 10 matchups between these teams, including four-straight at Houck Field. The Redhawks last beat the Gamecocks on Nov. 17, 2007 (32-25) in Cape Girardeau.

Brickyard Game
#4 Jacksonville State is the first ranked opponent Southeast Missouri faces this season. The Redhawks are 5-24 against ranked Football Championship Subdivision opponents since 2004. SEMO has a total of six wins against such foes, including three by Tom Matukewicz coached teams. The Redhawks upended then-#3 Southeastern Louisiana (24-23) and #20 Tennessee State (28-21) in 2014, and #13 Eastern Illinois (21-14) in 2016. Matukewicz has the most wins over ranked opponents of any head coach in SEMO football history.

Redhawks Pink Up
Southeast Missouri will wear special pink jerseys during its Pink Up game against #4 Jacksonville State Saturday. The special jerseys were auctioned off to raise breast cancer awareness and will bear names of individuals affected by cancer. Winning bidders will get their game-worn jerseys following the game. SEMO football has raised over $55,000 for breast cancer awareness over the last three years through this great cause.

Road to 200
Zach Hall is closing in on 200 career tackles. Hall leads the Ohio Valley Conference and ranks third in the nation with 77 total tackles this season. He has posted 10 or more stops in four of six starts. Hall presently has 192 tackles in his career. Fellow linebacker Roper Garrett (359 tackles, 2012-16) was the last SEMO player to get 200 or more career tackles.

Good to be Home
Southeast Missouri plays at home for the third time this season and first in over a month when it welcomes #4 Jacksonville State Saturday. SEMO is 2-0 at Houck Field after beating Dayton, 40-21, on Sept. 8 and Austin Peay, 31-27, on Oct. 13. The Redhawks will be at home for three of their final five regular-season contests.

Ranked Gamecocks
This year marks the fifth-straight where Southeast Missouri faces a nationally-ranked Jacksonville State team. JSU, currently ranked fourth, was in the top-three of either Football Championship Subdivision Poll during three of their previous four meetings with the Redhawks. The Gamecocks were #1 in the country when they beat the Redhawks, 56-28, in 2015. SEMO has never knocked off a ranked JSU team and is 0-8 in those contests.

Winning Streak
A win Saturday will give Southeast Missouri its third in a row and match the program's longest winning streak under head coach Tom Matukewicz. The Redhawks last posted three  consecutive wins when they beat Southeastern Louisiana (34-23, Sept. 20), UT Martin (31-27, Sept. 27) and Tennessee State (28-21, Oct. 4) in 2014.

Four Wins and Counting
The Redhawks recorded their fourth win of the season with a 31-27 victory over Austin Peay (Oct. 13). Southeast Missouri, now 4-2 this year, already surpassed its total of wins from each of the last two seasons. SEMO needs one more victory to match its most wins in a season under head coach Tom Matukewicz (5-7 in 2014).

Keeping it Close
Of any Ohio Valley Conference school, Southeast Missouri has played Jacksonville State the closest over the last two years combined. In that span, the Redhawks lost two games against the Gamecocks by a -23 (40-17) margin. Every other league team has lost to JSU by a combined margin of 33 or more points.

Late Game Heroics
Southeast Missouri won for the second time in the final minute of play when it rallied for 21 fourth-quarter points to beat Austin Peay, 31-27, on Oct. 13. Daniel Santacaterina completed a 37-yard pass to Jerrick Orr on a fourth-and-14 to get SEMO to the APSU 3-yard line. Two plays later, Marquis Terry scored his team-high seventh rushing touchdown on a 2-yard run with 15 seconds left. SEMO's other win in that fashion came on the road at Southern Illinois (Sept. 15) when Santacaterina threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Austin Crump with 25 seconds on the clock.

Fourth Quarter Flurry
Trailing, 13-10, against Austin Peay (Oct. 13) after three quarters, the Redhawks scored 21 points in the final 15 minutes to pull off a 31-27 come from-behind win. Daniel Santacaterina threw a pair of touchdown passes and Marquis Terry scored the game-winning touchdown on a 2-yard run. The 21 points tied for the fourth-most in the fourth quarter in Southeast Missouri's NCAA Division I era. It was the second time SEMO put up 20 or more points in the fourth quarter this season. The Redhawks have scored their most points (76) in the fourth quarter through six games. SEMO's 76 fourth-quarter points rank second behind Jacksonville State's 86.

100 Orr More
Wide receiver Jerrick Orr went over 100 receiving yards in his second-straight start when he caught six passes for a career-high 163 yards against Austin Peay (Oct. 13). Four of Orr's receptions went for 25 or more yards. He also made a spectacular catch on a fourth-and-14 pass from Daniel Santacaterina to set up the Redhawks game-winning touchdown. Orr's 163 yards were the most in a game by a Southeast Missouri receiver since Paul McRoberts finished with 169 yards vs. Murray State (Oct. 3, 2015).

Crump Scores Again
Redshirt-sophomore tight end Austin Crump has just four career receptions, but has scored three touchdowns on those plays. Crump never had a touchdown in his life until the Southern Illinois game on Sept. 15. Two of Crump's first three career receptions were touchdowns. He scored the Redhawks first and last touchdowns of that contest, including the game-winning 14-yard score with 25 seconds left. Most recently, Crump made a 19-yard touchdown reception to give Southeast Missouri its first lead early in the fourth quarter against Austin Peay (Oct. 13).

Scoring Jump
Southeast Missouri ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring with 37.3 points per game. SEMO hung a season-high 70 points on Tennessee Tech (Oct. 6). The Redhawks have scored 224 points through six games. SEMO was sixth in the OVC in scoring with just over 20 points per game (20.5) a year ago. The 2018 Redhawks are 54 points away from cracking the program's top five teams in points scored in a season. SEMO enters the week ranked 15th in the Football Championship Subdivision in scoring offense.

Turnover Margin
The Redhawks lead the Ohio Valley Conference and rank 14th in the nation with a +6 turnover margin. Southeast Missouri's defense forced a turnover in 10-straight games dating back to last season.

Lots of Points Expected
The two highest scoring teams in the Ohio Valley Conference go head-to-head at Houck Field Saturday. #4 Jacksonville State (48.2 ppg) and Southeast Missouri (37.3 ppg) are first and second in the OVC in scoring offense, respectively. JSU also leads the league in total offense (552.5 ypg) and has the OVC's top scoring defense allowing just 16.8 points per contest. Nationally, the Gamecocks are third in scoring offense and 10th in scoring defense.

Against the OVC
Fifth-year Southeast Missouri head coach Tom Matukewicz is 14-20 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Matukewicz has at least one win against seven of the eight league schools. Jacksonville State is the only OVC team he hasn't beat. Here is a breakdown of Matukewicz'a records in the conference:
vs. Austin Peay    4-1
vs. Eastern Illinois    1-3
vs. Eastern Kentucky    1-4
vs. Jacksonville State    0-4
vs. Murray State    3-1
vs. Tennessee State    1-2
vs. Tennessee Tech    3-2
vs. UT Martin    1-3

Sack Tracker
The Redhawk defense has recorded a sack in 13 of its last 14 games dating back to last season. Justin Swift (2.5) and Omardrick Douglas (2.0) lead the team in that category. Southeast Missouri led the Ohio Valley Conference and ranked sixth in the Football Championship Subdivision with 37 sacks in 2017.

Special Times
The Redhawks lead the Ohio Valley Conference in both punt return average and PAT kicking through five games this season.  Southeast Missouri is averaging 15.5 yards per punt return and has not missed a PAT all year (29-of-29).

Litang Rolls
Southeast Missouri kicker Nicholas Litang has made 34-straight PATs dating back to last season. Litang is a perfect 29-of-29 in that category this year. He leads the Redhawks in scoring with 44 points and ranks tied for eighth all-time in career PATs (55-of-57) at SEMO.

Race to 1,000 Yards
In six starts this season, tailback Marquis Terry is more than halfway to 1,000 rushing yards. Terry leads the Ohio Valley Conference and is ninth in the nation with 690 rushing yards. He leads the OVC and is 19th in the Football Championship Subdivision with seven rushing touchdowns and tops the league and rates 10th nationally with 115 rushing yards per game. Terry is 310 yards away from hitting the 1,000 mark for the second year in a row after rushing for a team-high 1,076 yards last season.

Working With Purpose
In addition to his success running the football, Marquis Terry is gaining yards in other ways too. Terry broke the Southeast Missouri and Ohio Valley Conference record with 438 all-purpose yards at Southern Illinois (Sept. 15). He picked up 311 rushing yards, caught one pass for 13 yards and returned five kickoffs for 114 yards against the Salukis. He enters the week ranked fifth nationally with an average of 163 all-purpose yards per game.

Points Leader
Nicholas Litang, Southeast Missouri's top  scorer with 44 points this season, leads the Ohio Valley Conference in PAT kicking percentage (29-of-29). Litang is averaging 7.3 points per game kicking the football and rates fourth in the league in scoring (kick).

2,000 is Ahead
Marquis Terry needs 234 rushing yards to hit 2,000 in his two-year Southeast Missouri career. Terry has gained 1,766 yards on 328 attempts, averaging 5.4 yards per carry in his career. Henry Harris was the last SEMO running back to accumulate 2,000 career rushing yards when he had 2,773 from 2008-10.

Santacaterina Strong
Daniel Santacaterina picked up his fourth win as Southeast Missouri's starting quarterback following another big performance against Austin Peay (Oct. 13). This time, Santacaterina pulled off some late game heroics to lead the Redhawks to a 31-27 come-from-behind win. He completed 19-of 37 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns. In the second half alone, Santacaterina completed 13-of-19 passes for 256 yards and threw all three of his touchdown passes, including two in the fourth quarter. He threw a 19-yard pass to Austin Crump to give the Redhawks their first lead of the game with 13:55 left. Santacaterina then threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Zack Smith (7:30) and later converted a fourth-and-14 with a 37-yard completion to Jerrick Orr which set up SEMO's game-winning score. He became the first SEMO quarterback to throw for over 300 yards in consecutive starts in 14 years (Andrew Goodenough, 304 at Central Michigan; 327 vs. Samford). In addition, Santacaterina moved into a tie for ninth in most touchdown passes in a season (14) at SEMO.

More on Santacaterina
Through six starts under center, Santacaterina has completed 60.2 percent of his passes (103-of-171) for 1,435 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is averaging 239.2 passing yards per game and boasts a pass efficiency rating of 150.7. Santacaterina has thrown a touchdown pass to six different Redhawk receivers and ranks third in the Ohio Valley Conference in passing average, third in pass efficiency and sixth in total offense (250.2 ypg). He has twice been named OVC Newcomer of the Week (Sept. 9, Oct. 7) and won one OVC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 9) honor. Sixteen of his completions have gone for 20 or more yards. Santacaterina ranks 11th nationally in passing touchdowns (14), 20th in pass efficiency and 21st in points responsible for (15/game).

Starting Streak
Senior Drew Forbes enters Saturday's game with a streak of 28 consecutive starts at left tackle. Forbes anchors an offensive line that features three returning starters.

Scoring Streak
The Redhawks presently have the second-longest scoring streak in the Ohio Valley Conference. Southeast Missouri has scored in 83-consecutive games and ranks behind Murray State (147) in that category. The last time the Redhawks were shutout in a game was at Purdue (59-0) on Sept. 17, 2011.
