PEORIA, Ill. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (2-2, 0-0 OVC) recorded its second straight win of the weekend Saturday, taking a 4-3 decision against Northern Illinois (0-1) at the Clubs at River City.
 
The Redhawks won all three doubles matches to open the dual and then captured the victory with three singles wins after they beat Bradley on Friday with the same score.
 
"It was a good team effort today, we came out very strong in doubles, which gave us good momentum in singles," head coach Mary Beth Gunn said. "There were some tight moments when we were down in the match, but we fought our way back to win."
 
Anais Emelie and Maja Lundell won their third doubles match by default to start the meet. Oleksandra Doroshenko and Alessandra Maya Thompson then beat Abigail Dekkinga and Lara Slisko, 6-2, to clinch the doubles point. Isabella Krupa and Kseniya Zonova also won their top position doubles match over Thisuri Molligoda and Evelyn Youel, 6-2.
 
In singles, Kelly Sicha won her no. 6 match by default to give SEMO a 2-0 edge. At the top singles spot, Doroshenko eased past Thisuri Molligoda, 6-1, 6-2, after Alessandra Maya Thompson fell in her fifth singles match. Krupa beat Slisko, 6-3, 0-6, 6-2, in her no. 2 match to give Southeast the victory.
 
Emelie dropped her third singles match to Abigail Dekkinga, 6-4, 6-4, and Evelyn Youel outlasted Lundell, 6-4, 7-5, in the fourth singles position.
 
The Redhawks compete next on Friday, February 9 with a pair of duals. Southeast faces Northeastern State at 12 p.m., CT and then takes on Missouri State at 7 p.m. in Springfield, Missouri.
