JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Southeast Missouri (15-14, 0-4) dropped two games to preseason-All-Ohio Valley Conference favorite Jacksonville State (21-9, 3-1) Sunday. The Redhawks lost by scores of 3-0 and 9-5.

Whitney Gillespie threw a complete game four-hit shutout to key a 3-0 victory for JSU in game one.

Gillespie, the 2016 OVC Pitcher of the Year, moved to 11-3 for the season. She also struck out three and pitched four no-hit innings.

JSU scored once in the first, second and fourth innings en route to its ninth shutout of the year.

Anna Chisolm hit leadoff triple to left field and scored when Alexus Jimmerson grounded out to grab the Gamecocks a 1-0 edge in the first.

JSU added to its lead when Leila Chambers touched home on a two-out single by Jamie McGuire in the second inning.

McGuire's solo home run in the fourth inning polished off the win. For McGuire, it was her sixth home run of the season.

McGuire and Taylor Sloan each had two hits for the Gamecocks, while
Madison Harris led SEMO with two hits at the top of the Redhawks lineup.

Mackenzie Hoelting (0-4) remained winless this season. Hoelting walked five, struck out one and gave up three runs on seven hits in six innings.

A five-run fifth inning was the difference for JSU in its game two win.

Ahead, 4-2, the Gamecocks sparked a two-out rally when McGuire walked. Stephanie Lewis then singled and Sloan followed with a two-RBI triple down the right field line. Hayley Sims knocked in a run on an infield single before scoring on a double by Chambers. Emily Woodruff's single pushed JSU's lead to 9-2.

Rachel Anderson launched a three-run home run with one out in the top of the seventh inning, but that was as close as the Redhawks would get.

SEMO had six hits with
Mykaela Arellanes  going 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead the way.

Four Gamecocks finished with multiple-hits as JSU collected 12 in the nightcap.

Taylor West (8-4) picked up the win after striking out three and allowing two runs on four hits in 4.2 innings.

Madeline Krumrey (9-4) gave up 10 hits and nine runs in 4.2 innings. Krumrey also struck out two and walked one.
The Redhawks, who are on a season-long seven-game losing streak, host Eastern Illinois in their home-opener on Apr. 1.
