Kelvin Anderson to be Inducted into CFL Hall of Fame

Former Southeast Missouri running back Kelvin "Earthquake" Anderson is part of the 2017 Canadian Football League Hall of Fame Class.

In seven years with the Calgary Stampeders (1996-2002), Anderson accumulated seven 1,000-yard rushing seasons. A native of Indiana, Anderson's 8,292 yards on the ground represents the second-highest total in Calgary history, including 52 rushing touchdowns for a total of 76 majors, second only to Allen Pitts in the Stamps record books. He was a two-time Grey Cup champion with Calgary, winning titles in 1998 and 2001, and was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie in 1996.

Anderson played at Southeast from 1992-94 and is the school's all-time leading rusher with 3,392 yards. He ran for over 1,000 yards every season and piled up a career-high 1,371 yards during his first college season in 1992. Anderson holds the school record in career 100-yard games (14), is second in career rushing attempts (636) and fifth in career rushing touchdowns (24). He also ran for over 200 yards twice in his career and set Southeast's single-season record in rushing yards per carry with 6.69 in 1992.

Anderson was a Second-Team All-American in 1992, earned First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors in 1994 and was a Second-Team All-OVC selection in 1993. He led the OVC with 1,371 yards in 1992. Anderson was inducted into the Southeast Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004.

The other members of the 2017 Hall of Fame class include receiver Geroy Simon, quarterback Anthony Calvillo, linebacker Mike O'Shea in the players' category and former University of Saskatchewan coach Brian Towriss and longtime Calgary Stampeders executive Stan Schwartz in the builders' category.
