A Look at What's Ahead
Southeast will look to punch its ticket to a second-straight OVC Tournament which begins next week in Nashville. A win over Austin Peay will secure a spot in the tournament for Southeast.
Series History
Southeast Missouri trails in the all-time series to Austin Peay, 22-30. The Redhawks are an even 12-12 in the Show Me Center against the Govs. A season ago, the Redhawks were victorious at home on Jan. 30, 71-69, but fell in the regular-season finale on the road, 74-71.
Vying for a Spot
Heading into the final games of the season, the conference standings feature a five-way tie for fourth place. Belmont and Morehead State are the only teams that locked up a spot in the OVC Tournament. SIUE sits in third at 8-7. The five-way tie for fourth features Southeast, Austin Peay, Murray State, UT Martin, and Tennessee Tech all sitting at 7-8. Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky are currently on the outside the top eight at 6-9 but still have a shot at making the postseason. Tennessee State and Eastern Illinois have been eliminated at 5-10.
Scouting the Govs
The Govs come to Cape Girardeau evenly matched with the Redhawks on the schedule with a 13-15 record and a 7-8 clip in OVC play. They have lost three of their last four games including dropping road games to Murray State and SIUE. They also lost to Eastern Illinois in Clarksville. Most recently, the Govs completed a routing of UT Martin, 85-60. APSU is 3-9 away from the Dunn Center including a 2-5 road record in OVC contests. Tearra Banks continues to lead the Govs with 21.9 points per game in OVC games while averaging 7.5 rebounds a game. Brianne Alexander came off the bench to put up 22 points on Wednesday.
In the last Meeting
Southeast trailed Austin Peay by only two points going to the fourth quarter of the Jan. 28 game in Clarksville but a 27-point final frame by the Govs was too much for the Redhawks to handle in the end, 84-74. The Redhawks were led in scoring by
Bri Mitchell with 15 points.
Adrianna Murphy finished the game recording her second-straight double-double. She had 13 points and dished out 10 assists, her third double-digit assist game this season. Southeast was narrowly outshot in the game, 43.9 percent to 44.4. Southeast nailed eight 3-point baskets in the contest and shot 36 percent from beyond the arc. It was a close game throughout the contest as the score was tied only twice but the lead changed hands six times.
A Look Back
Southeast Missouri defeated Murray State on the road Wednesday, 80-67. With the victory, Southeast sweeps the home-and-home series with the Racers. It's the first series win over Murray since the 2004 season. It's also Southeast's first series sweep over an opponent since SIUE in 2014. The Redhawks were led by a 25-point performance from
Bri Mitchell. It was Mitchell's sixth 20-point game this season and 13th of her career. She tied a career-best 10 field goals and grabbed six rebounds in 36 minutes.

Deja Jones had 10. Noe hit one 3-pointer in the game, her 69th of the season, setting a new single-season record for made 3-pointers. Southeast was outrebounded in the game 43-39 including on the offensive side of the court, 16-12. The Redhawks had good rebounding coverage across the board as
Adrianna Murphy and Mitchell co-led with six each and three others each had five. The Redhawks outshot Murray State 41.4%-38.7%. The Redhawks also hit eight shots from beyond the arc. One of the biggest difference makers in the game was the Redhawks' free-throw shooting. Southeast recorded season highs in both made free-throws (24) and free-throws attempted (34). Noe and Jones each made six foul shots. Turnovers also played a major role on Wednesday as SEMO forced Murray into 22 mishandlings, resulting in 21 points off turnovers for the Redhawks.
A New 3-Point Record Holder
Junior
Hannah Noe has set a new single-season record with 69 made 3-pointers in 2016-17. The old record of 68 was held by Natalie Purcell (2005-06) and Julie Meier, (1993-94). Her 118 career 3-pointers ranks fifth all-time at SEMO. The record, held by Julie Meier (1991-95) is 174. Noe tied a school record with nine made threes at Eastern Illinois on Feb. 11.
Assists Superstar
Sophomore point guard
Adrianna Murphy is 16th in the nation with 170 assists this season. Her 6.1 assists per game ranks 20th. Murphy has had four double-digit assist performances this season including a career-high 14. For the second year in a row, Murphy has cracked the single-season top 10 with 170; topping her rookie season total of 144. She has also worked her way on to the career assists list with 314, a figure that ranks eighth behind teammate
Bri Mitchell (336).
Logging Miles, and Wins
With Wednesday's road victory over Murray, the Redhawks recorded their fifth conference road win of the season. SEMO's five road victories is the most since Southeast went 10-0 on the road in 2006-07. The Redhawks finished the regular season 5-3 on the road in the league play.
