JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Southeast Missouri basketball (11-14, 6-4) saw its four-game winning streak snapped Wednesday evening with a 74-62 loss at the hands of Jacksonville State (14-11, 6-4).

The Redhawks were led by 18 points from
Denzel Mahoney. The rookie has led Southeast in scoring in five of the last six games and nine total times this season. He recorded a new season-high four 3-point baskets in the contest.

Aside from Mahoney, the Redhawks posted three others in double-figure scoring.
Milos Vranes posted his second-highest scoring game as a Redhawk, finishing with 13 points and draining a season-high three 3-pointers.
Jamaal Calvin recorded 11 points while
Tahj Eaddy had 10, all of which came in the first half.

Calvin's five individual rebounds led the team. As a squad, the Redhawks were heavily outrebounded, 43-24. JSU grabbed 13 offensive boards, resulting in 17 total second-chance points. JSU also blocked a season-high nine SEMO shots. Â

The Redhawks forced the Gamecocks into 17 turnovers, capitalizing on them for 19 points off turnovers. The Redhawks themselves committed just 10 mishandlings in the game.

Southeast finished the game shooting 39 percent (22-of-57) while JSU shot a very efficient 50 percent (25-of-50). From beyond the arc, Southeast drained 11 3-pointers. It was the seventh time this season they have hit 10 or more buckets from long distance.

The game began with a 3-point basket from JSU's Greg Tucker but the Redhawks wasted no time rattling off seven-straight points to go up 7-3 very early in the contest. The Gamecocks responded with eight unanswered points of their own to go back up by four five minutes into the game.

Southeast recaptured the lead but not for long as both teams traded the lead four times in a minute period.

Tied at 19, JSU went on a 9-1 run to open an eight-point lead, 28-20. The Gamecocks continued to build on the lead, eventually finding a 12-point deficit at 36-24, their largest of the half.

Southeast helped its cause with five-straight points from Eaddy and a Vranes 3-pointer to slice the JSU lead to four with 3:04 to play.

The half ended with only a single basket from Jacksonville State with 2:06 to play. The Gamecocks led going into halftime, 38-32.

Eaddy led the Redhawks with 10 first-half points. It was already Eaddy's seventh double-figure scoring game of his rookie campaign. Calvin and Vranes each contributed seven points in the opening half. Calvin pulled in a team-best four rebounds.

As a team, the Redhawks were defeated on the boards in the opening half, 23-14. Southeast was also outshot 46.7%-39.3%; however, the Redhawks hit six 3-pointers in the half led by a couple from each Eaddy and Calvin.

The second half began with both teams going back-and-forth with JSU holding a steady lead on the Redhawks. Up nine, JSU went on a 9-3 run to hold a 14-point lead on Southeast with 8:13 to play, 82-48.

Mahoney hit his fourth 3-pointer, setting a new season high for the freshman and sparking seven-straight points for SEMO, cutting the lead to seven, 62-55.

Nine-straight points from the Gamecocks ensued to go up by 16 with 3:43 to play, 71-55. A quick 7-1 run by the Redhawks made it a 10-point game but it wasn't enough in the end as Southeast fell to the Gamecocks, 74-62. Â

Erik Durham posted a game-high 22 points for the Gamecocks while nabbing seven rebounds. Like the Redhawks, JSU had four total players reach double-figure scoring. Christian Cunningham posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

After three-straight road games, the Redhawks will return to the Show Me Center on Saturday, Feb. 4 to host Morehead State. The game will be the annual Hall of Fame game, honoring the 2016 Hall of Fame class at halftime. Tipoff between the Redhawks and Eagles is set for 4:15 p.m.
