CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Mitch Mersman kicked a 22-yard field goal with one second left to give UT Martin (5-4, 3-3) a 16-14 victory over Southeast Missouri (2-7, 2-4) Saturday at Houck Field.
Both teams combined for four missed field goals before Mersman's kick sailed through the uprights.

UTM forced SEMO to punt with under three minutes left to play and took over on downs at its own 44-yard line.

On the second play of the drive, Dresser Winn hooked up with Londell Lee for a 25-yard completion. Two plays later, Ladar Galloway broke free for a 24-yard run to give the Skyhawks a first-and-Goal at the SEMO 5-yard line. UTM later called timeout with five seconds remaining and Mersman then kicked the game-winner.

Clinging to a 14-13 lead, SEMO twice had chances to pull ahead by four, but Nicholas Litang missed a 31-yard field goal and had a 22-yard field goal attempt blocked. SEMO has missed five field goals and had three of those kicks blocked in its last two games.

Jesse Hosket's 5-yard touchdown pass to
Logan Larson capped an 8-play, 75-yard drive to grab the Redhawks the lead early in the fourth quarter.

UTM took the game's opening drive down to the SEMO 19-yard line, but the Skyhawks came up empty when Mitch Mersman's 36-yard field goal sailed wide right.

On the third play of the Redhawks ensuing possession, Jesse Hosket completed an 11-yard pass to
Eric Williams who fumbled the ball on the play. Porter Streator recovered for UTM at the SEMO 26.

SEMO's defense recorded two sacks and a tackle for loss totaling a loss of 13 yards and UTMÂ was forced to punt.

After the Redhawks punted the next time they had the ball, Londell Lee fumbled on the return and
Cameron Sanders recovered at the SEMO 44.

Hosket began the drive with a 25-yard completion to Williams. Marquis Terry ran for 19 yards to the UTM 12 before Hosket hit paydirt on a 12-yard run to give SEMO a 7-0 lead with 4:55 left in the first quarter.

At the start of the second quarter, SEMO's defense came up big again, this time with a huge goal line stand. UTM covered 79 yards in 17 plays, but
Omar Pierre-Louis dropped Ladar Galloway for no gain on a fourth-and-Goal at the 1-yard line.

A 35-yard field goal by Mesmer narrowed SEMO's lead to 7-3 at the 2:33 mark and that score would remain the same at the half.

Marquis Terry ran for 154 yards on 20 carries and averaged 7.7 per rush to lead SEMO. Terry had a 68-yard run in the fourth quarter and posted his third 100-yard game of the season.

Hosket completed 9-of-19 passes for 90 yards and wen over 4,000 passing yards in his career.

The Redhawks rushed for 221 yards, their second-most in a game this year.

Meanwhile, UTM was led by Winn who threw for 224 yards and a touchdown, and ran for another 66 yards. He completed 12-of-23 passes and was sacked five times, as well.

The Skyhawks finished with 420 total yards to SEMO's 307.

Defensively, Justin Swift and Zach Hall led SEMO with nine tackles each. Both Swift and Hall also had a sack, Swift recovered a fumble and Hall added two pass breakups. Additionally, Pierre-Louis, Ochoa and
Joshua Wilson collected one sack apiece for the Redhawks.

Kevin Prather led the Skyhawks with eight stops.
