Series History
Murray State leads the all-time series by a count of 39-11-1. Seven of Southeast's 11 wins in the series have come at Houck Field. The Redhawks beat the Racers each of the last two seasons with a 27-10 victory in Cape Girardeau on Oct. 3, 2015 and a 17-16 victory in Murray on Sept. 24, 2016. Southeast has never defeated MSU three years in a row in the all-time series.
Senior Day
Southeast will honor its 16 seniors prior to kickoff against Murray State. This year's senior class includes Isaac Diabagate, Kendall Donnerson, Tyler Fallert, Mike Ford, Rider Garrett, Jesse Hosket, Logan Larson, Terez Long, Tyler McLemore, Rico McWilliams, Chad Meredith, Gabe Phillips, Omar Pierre-Louis, Alex Snyder, Broedy Wheeler and Joshua Wilson.
Military Appreciation
Saturday is also Military Appreciation Day at Houck Field. Veterans, active duty and reserve military receive free admission with valid identification.
Last Time Against Murray State
The Redhawks escaped with a 17-16 win after Connor Mitchell's 38-yard field goal sailed wide right with two seconds left on Sept. 24, 2016 at Stewart Stadium. Jesse Hosket threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Adrian Davis to give Southeast a one-point edge with 1:05 left to play in the fourth quarter. The Redhawks and Racers opened the Ohio Valley Conference season against each other a year ago.
Winding Down
Southeast will ends its season at home for the fourth-straight year. The Redhawks last closed out a season with a win in 2008 (33-30, Nov. 22).
Four-Game Skid
The Redhawks are looking to snap a four-game losing streak when they square off against Murray State Saturday. Southeast dropped three of those contests by seven points or less.Â
Another Close One
Southeast lost its last two games on late field goals. A last second 22-yard field goal by Mitch Mersman sent Southeast to a 16-14 loss against UT Martin on Nov. 4. A week later, Lane Clark kicked a 44-yard field goal with a little over two minutes left allowing Tennessee State to hang on for a 23-20 victory. Five of Southeast's losses this season have been by a combined 17 points.
Hosket Clears 4,000 Passing Yards
Quarterback Jesse Hosket went over 4,000 passing yards in his career when he completed 9-of-19 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown against UT Martin (Nov. 4). Hosket now has 4,116 passing yards in his career. He has thrown for 1,784 yards and 15 touchdowns this season alone. Matt Scheible was the last Southeast quarterback to throw for more than 4,000 career yards (4,841 from 2008-11).
Sack it Up
Southeast leads the Ohio Valley Conference and ranks 13th in the Football Championship Subdivision in sacks. The Redhawks have a total of 31 sacks for a loss of 186 yards and average 3.1 per game. Eighteen of those sacks have come in the last three weeks alone with a season-high eight at Jacksonville State (Oct. 28), five vs. UT Martin (Nov. 4) and five at Tennessee State (Nov. 11). Zach Hall leads the Redhawks and ranks 14th in the Football Championship Subdivision with nine sacks.
Swift Effort
Outside linebacker Justin Swift turned in five tackles at Jacksonville State (Oct. 28). Swift tallied three sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss against the Gamecocks. A week later, Swift registered a career-high nine tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery in his first career start against UT Martin (Nov. 4). He moved into second on the team with 4.5 sacks in just three contests.
Multiple TDs for Wilkerson
For the first time in his career, wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson scored multiple touchdowns in a game. Wilkerson caught a 9-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter and 8-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter at  Tennessee State (Nov. 11). His second TD reception tied the game at 20-20 before the Tigers went on to win with a late field goal. Wilkerson leads the Redhawks with five receiving touchdowns this year.
Terry Goes Over 100 Again
Marquis Terry ran for a game-high 116 yards at Tennessee State (Nov. 11), his fourth 100-yard performance of the season. Terry averaged 7.2 yards per carry on 16 attempts. He enters the week first in the Ohio Valley Conference and 15th in the Football Championship Subdivision with 98.4 rushing yards per game. Terry ran for over 100 yards in three of his last four starts.
1,000 in Sight
Marquis Terry needs just 16 more rushing yards to reach 1,000 this season. If Terry hits the mark, he will become the second Redhawk running back to rush for over 1,000 yards in three seasons. Tremane McCullough was Southeast's last 1,000-yard rusher with 1,028 yards in 2015. No running back in the Ohio Valley Conference has rushed for 1,000 yards this season.
Hall Doubles Up Again
Zach Hall posted a game-high 10 tackles in Southeast's 23-20 loss at Tennessee State (Nov. 11). Hall had five solo stops and assisted on five others. He recorded two sacks and four tackles for loss. Hall is tied for third in the Ohio Valley Conference and 14th in the nation in sacks. He has turned in 10 or more tackles in three of his last four starts and has accumulated seven sacks over that span.Â
31 and Counting
Southeast presently has 31 sacks this season which tie for third-most in a season in the program's history. The school record for sacks in a season is 38 done by the 1994 Redhawks. Three more sacks will put this year's team in sole possession of second on the school's all-time single-season list.
Start Tracker
Jesse Hosket started 21-consecutive games since he took over as Southeast's quarterback in 2016. Hosket is the Redhawks first quarterback to start back-to-back seasons in six years. Meanwhile, Drew Forbes has started 21 games in a row at left tackle. In addition, senior Alex Snyder has started 31 of his last 32 games. Snyder started 11 games at left tackle and 20 at right tackle during his career.
