Brickyard Game
Southeast faces its first ranked opponent of the season when it hooks up with #3 Jacksonville State this week. Tom Matukewicz has three wins over nationally-ranked teams, most of any head coach in Redhawk football history. Matukewicz's wins in those games include a 24-23 victory over #3 Southeastern Louisiana and 28-21 win over #20 Tennessee State in 2014, and a 21-14 victory over #13 Eastern Illinois in 2016.

Wins Against Ranked Teams
The Redhawks have a total of six wins against ranked Football Championship Subdivision opponents. Southeast beat #17 Illinois State (28-25) on Sept. 16, 2000, #19 Tennessee State (27-20), #5 Southern Illinois (24-21) on Sept. 18, 2010, #20 Tennessee State (28-21) on Oct. 4, 2014 and #13 Eastern Illinois (21-14) on Oct. 1, 2016 in those contests. All of those wins were decided by no more than seven points.

Series History
Jacksonville State owns a 16-5 lead in its all-time series against Southeast. The Redhawks are 1-9 at Burgess-Snow Field and have dropped eight-straight on the Gamecocks home field. Southeast is looking to snap a nine game losing streak in the series. The last time the Redhawks beat JSU was on Nov. 17, 2007 (32-25 in Cape Girardeau).

On the Road Again
Southeast closes out a two-game road stretch at Jacksonville State. The Redhawks play for the fifth time away from home this season and are coming off a 38-31 loss at Austin Peay (Oct. 21). This week marks the second straight where Southeast will play on its opponent's homecoming.

When the Gamecocks are Ranked
Saturday marks the seventh time Southeast faces a ranked Jacksonville State team since 2004. The Redhawks are 0-6 in such games where the Gamecocks have been ranked. This will be the third time the two teams meet with JSU ranking among the top three teams in the Football Championship Subdivision. Gamecocks head coach John Grass is a perfect 28-0 in Ohio Valley Conference games.

Fourth Quarter Comeback
The Redhawks nearly overcame a 28-point deficit late in their last outing at Austin Peay (Oct. 21). Southeast trailed, 35-7, with 9:44 left to play in the third quarter before outscoring the Governors, 24-3, the rest of the way. The Redhawks put up a season-high 17 points in the fourth quarter. Southeast has scored a combined 31 points in the fourth quarter in its last two games.

Career Day
Quarterback Jesse Hosket completed 25-of-44 passes for a career-high 348 yards and three touchdowns at Austin Peay (Oct. 21). Hosket completed passes to eight different receivers and nearly helped the Redhawks erase a 28-point deficit. He threw his three TD passes, including two in the fourth quarter, during the second half. Hosket's 348 passing yards were most in a game by a Southeast quarterback since Houston Lillard finished with 387 vs. Southwest Baptist on Aug. 28, 2008.

OVC Single-Game High
Jesse Hosket's 348 passing yards against Austin Peay (Oct. 21) also marked a single-game high in the Ohio Valley Conference this year. Hosket became the second quarterback to throw for over 300 yards in a game in 2017, joining Murray State's Shuler Bentley (332 yards, vs. Eastern Illinois, Oct. 14).

Spreading it Around
Eight different Southeast receivers caught a pass in the Redhawks latest 38-31 loss at Austin Peay (Oct. 21). Kristian Wilkerson paved the way with five catches, Richie Eisenhart and Eric Williams each had four, Zack Smith, Trevon Billington and Cameron Sanders added three, Marquis Terry notched two and Logan Larson had one.

Eisenhart Steps Up
Richie Eisenhart turned in a career-best four catches for 88 yards against Austin Peay (Oct. 21). Eisenhart made his first career touchdown reception on a 29-yard pass from Jesse Hosket with 3:28 to go in the fourth quarter. He made an amazing catch and managed to stay in-bounds in the back of the end zone on that play. Eisenhart also made a sliding 34-yard catch in the final period.

Hosket Moves into Top 10
Quarterback Jesse Hosket is now among Southeast's all-time career leaders in five categories. Hosket is ninth in passing yards (3,753), tied for eighth in pass completions (312), seventh in pass attempts (607), tied for ninth in most touchdown passes (22) and eighth in total offense attempts (692).

Double Time
For the first time this season, Southeast had two players with double-digit tackles in a game when Omar Pierre-Louis and Zach Hall both finished with 10 at Austin Peay (Oct. 21). Pierre-Louis established a new career-high, while Hall matched his. The Redhawks had at least one player register 10 or more tackles in a game for the third time this season.

Winning Streak Ends
Southeast's two-game winning streak ended with a 38-31 loss at Austin Peay (Oct. 21). The Redhawks had won nine-straight games in Clarksville, Tennessee before losing there for the first time since 1991.

Tough Defense
Southeast's defense boasted a +7 turnover margin with five interceptions in its last three games. The Redhaws recorded a season-high four takeaways against Eastern Kentucky (Sept. 30) before following that up with three two weeks later against Tennessee Tech (Oct. 14). Southeast has a total of 13 takeaways and is second in the Ohio Valley Conference with a +3 turnover margin this season. The Redhawks lead the conference in OVC only games with a +5 turnover margin.

Games with a Catch
Kristian Wilkerson has caught a pass in 13-straight games. The last time Wilkerson went without a catch was vs. Eastern Illinois on Oct. 1, 2016.

Seventeen and Counting
Southeast kicker Nicholas Litang enters the week with a streak of 17-consecutive PATs. Litang last missed a PAT on his second attempt of the season at Kansas (Sept. 2). He is 18-of-19 in extra points through seven games this season. Litang is also fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring (kick) (5.6 ppg), fourth in scoring, tied for third in field goals (7-of-10) and fourth in PAT kicking percentage (94.7).

Second in the OVC
Marquis Terry and Cameron Sanders are second in the Ohio Valley Conference in rushing and kick return average, respectively. Terry, who ran for a career-high 184 yards and two touchdowns against Eastern Kentucky (Sept. 30), is averaging 93.9 rushing yards per game. Sanders is averaging 26.8 yards per kick return on 17 attempts. Nationally, Terry is 14th in the Football Championship Subdivision in rushing yards per game and 12th in total rushing yards (657), while Sanders rates 13th in kickoff returns.

Strong Offensive Line
Southeast's offensive line has allowed an Ohio Valley Conference low six sacks in seven games this season. The Redhawks have not given up a sack in two of their last four contests. Southeast ranks 25th in the Football Championship Subdivision in sacks allowed.

Start Tracker
Outside linebacker Chad Meredith carries a streak of 29-straight starts into Saturday's game against Jacksonville State. Jesse Hosket started 18-consecutive games since he took over as Southeast's quarterback in 2016. Hosket is the Redhawks first quarterback to start back-to-back seasons in six years. Meanwhile, Drew Forbes has started 18 games in a row at left tackle. In addition, senior Alex Snyder has started 28 of his last 29 games. Snyder started 11 games at left tackle and 17 at right tackle during his career.

FCS Rankings
Southeast has five players ranked among the top 20 NCAA Football Championship Subdivision leaders. Kendall Donnerson (3) is sixth in forced fumbles; Mike Ford is 11th in passes defended (1.6 per game); Kristian Wilkerson is 17th in receptions per game (6.3); Cameron Sanders is 13th in kickoff returns (26.8 ypr); and Marquis Terry is 12th in total rushing yards (657) and 14th in rushing yards per game (93.9).

Scoring Streak
The Redhawks presently have the second-longest scoring streak in the Ohio Valley Conference. Southeast has scored in 73-consecutive games and ranks behind Murray State (138) in that category. The last time the Redhawks were shutout in a game was at Purdue (59-0) on Sept. 17, 2011.

On the Road
Southeast is 3-18 all-time on the road under head coach Tom Matukewicz. The Redhawks beat UT Martin (2014), Austin Peay (2015) and Murray State (2016) for those victories away from home. Southeast's last win on the road was at Murray State (17-16) on Sept. 24, 2016.
