CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's volleyball (8-15, 3-6) flew past Morehead State (11-11, 2-7) in three sets (27-25, 25-13, 25-23) on Pink Up Night Friday at Houck Field House with their team-best hitting percentage of the season (.371).

The win improves the Redhawks record to 3-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference and 6-2 at home this campaign.

"We really played to our potential tonight," head coach
Julie Yankus said of the victory. "We executed the game plan and kept all of our attackers involved. I'm proud of our setters for distributing the ball so well and remaining composed during tight situations. I feel this can be a real turning point for our season."

Krissa Gearring led the Southeast offense with 11 kills and
Haley Bilbruck notched a career-high 10 kills on a .643 hitting clip.

Mikayla Kuhlmann and
Nzingha Clarke each added nine kills with identical .444 hitting percentages.
Â
Bilbruck (107) and
Madara Bajare (100) also each recorded their 100
th kills of the season.

In the opening set, Southeast hit .344 and received five kills from Bilbruck. Down set point, 24-21, the Redhawks went on a 4-0 run with two kills from Gearring and a block from
Krista Berns to take a 25-24 edge. The Eagles evened the frame at 25-25 before committing back-to-back errors.

In the second set, SEMO hit a match-high .438 and had five attackers with hitting clips of .400 or better. Clarke tallied four kills in the stanza on a set-high .800 percentage and Gearring added five. Southeast cruised through the second set, 25-13, to grow their lead in the match to 2-0.

The Redhawks claimed the match with a tight third set win, 25-23. Kuhlmann led SEMO with a set-high five kills. Knotted at 20-20, Gearring hit a kill and Clarke recorded a block to give Southeast a 22-20 lead.

The Eagles tied the set back up at 22-22 to force a Redhawks timeout. After the break, Morehead State's Maddie Fella and Liz Allen combined for a block to switch the lead to MSU's favor.

SEMO closed out the set with a Clarke kill, a service ace from
Ally Dion and an Eagles set error. Dion hit a match-high four aces.

Keegan Fornoff dished out 23 assists and
Allie Henkelman added 18. Henkelman also posted nine digs and Kuhlmann had eight.
Southeast faces Eastern Kentucky Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Houck Field House.Â
