Tennis Competes in ITA Regional at Kansas Thursday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis heads to Lawrence, Kansas for the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Central Regional Championship presented by Oracle October 19 to 23 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center and Sports Pavilion Lawrence.
The Redhawks will have four players competing in the singles draw and all six members of the squad making up three doubles teams.
Doubles will kick-off Thursday's matches. Anais Emelie and Maja Lundell (2-0) face Christiana Brigante and Simran Kaur Sethi of Oklahoma at 9 a.m. followed by Kseniya Zonova and Alessandra Maya Thompson (2-0) against Minnesota's Karyna Bihel/Camila Vargas Gomez at 10 a.m.
Oleksandra Doroshenko and Isabella Krupa (3-2) take on Rosanna Maffei and Ines Mesquita (Kansas State) at 10 a.m.
In the singles competition, Doroshenko, Krupa, Maya Thompson and Zonova will represent Southeast.
Doroshenko will face Brigante and Maya Thompson takes on #17-seed Yufei Long of Iowa at 11:30 a.m. Zonova then competes against #17-seed Mesquita (Kansas State) at 2:00 p.m. Krupa rounds out SEMO's singles versus #9-seed Katrina Stresnakova (Oklahoma State) at 2:30 p.m.
Doroshenko and Zonova lead the team with seven total wins this fall. Emelie has picked up six wins while Krupa and Lundell each have five.
