NASHVILLE – Southeast Missouri women's basketball (7-9, 1-2) earned its first Ohio Valley Conference victory of the 2016-17 season with a 75-67 win over Tennessee State (5-7, 0-2) Thursday at the Gentry Center.
Thursday's win is the first for Southeast over Tennessee State on the road since Jan. 17, 2008.Â

Southeast trailed by two, 48-46, going into the final 10 minutes but a 29-point fourth quarter propelled the Redhawks to the conference victory.

SEMO was led by a career-best 20-point performance from
Ashton Luttrull. The junior tallied career-bests with five 3-pointers and three free-throws made in the contest. Her 24 minutes also tied a career-long. Â

Olivia Hackmann recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.

Bri Mitchell was the third Redhawk in double-figure scoring with 19 points. Mitchell pulled in eight rebounds, tying a career-best. She was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. The senior dished out seven assists and played 39 minutes of the 40-minute affair.

After shooting 16 percent in the first quarter, the Redhawks finished shooting 42 percent from the floor in the game. SEMO was 9-of-23 (39%) from beyond the arc and 16-of-19 (84%) from the free-throw line. SEMO's 16 made free-throws were a season-high.

The first quarter featured both teams combine for 18 percent shooting from the field, with each team making only three field goals. Southeast fell behind early but four-straight points put the Redhawks on top for the first time, 6-5. The quarter ended with SEMO on top by a field goal, 10-8.

Mitchell led the Redhawks with four points while also grabbing four rebounds. Hackmann had seven boards in the opening quarter alone.

The Redhawks highlighted the opening stanza outrebounding the Lady Tigers 18-9. Eight of SEMO's 18 rebounds were on the offensive end of the court. Southeast would finish with 11 total offensive rebounds in the game.Â

Shooting picked up dramatically in the second quarter as the Redhawks shot 60 percent (9-of-15) from the floor. The Redhawks found a 10-point lead at 23-13 in the first five minutes of the quarter. The Lady Tigers scored 11 of the final 16 points to narrow the Redhawk lead to just four going into halftime, 32-28.

Hackmann entered halftime a rebound shy of a double-double, leading Southeast with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Hannah Noe had seven points at half, all of which came in the second quarter.

Tennessee State came out of halftime and found an eight-point lead following a 14-2 run to open the third quarter. Luttrull alone scored the next eight points to retie the game at 42. A pair of free-throws by Mitchell gave the Redhawks their last lead of the quarter. The third ended with TSU narrowly on top, 48-46.

Down five 3:10 into the final quarter, the Redhawks rattled off an 18-3 run to capture a 10-point lead with 1:56 to play in the contest. The lead fizzled to four over the following minute. TSU began fouling the Redhawks with 54 seconds to play but Southeast finished 7-for-8 from the line to capture the 75-67 victory. SEMOÂ shot nearly 70 percent in the final 10 minutes.Â

The Lady Tigers had three players in double-digit scoring led by 17 points from Diamond Beatty. Beatty had five 3-point makes. Olivia Jones followed close behind with 16 points in the contest.

Southeast Missouri will continue its road trip Saturday against Belmont University. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from the Curb Event Center in Nashville. Â
