CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Southeast Missouri's women's tennis team (1-1) heads to in-state rival Saint Louis (1-2) for a Noon, CT, matchup Wednesday.
This year marks the 15th meeting between the Redhawks and Billikens. SLU leads the all-time series with a 12-2 record.
"Saint Louis is going to be a very challenging match for us," said head coach
Mary Beth Gunn. "We are focusing on trying to outlast our opponent and engage our opponents every point to place more pressure on them."
In two matches this season, the Redhawks are 4-8 in singles action and 3-2 in doubles play.
Oleksandra Doroshenko leads the way with a perfect 2-0 record at the No. 2 position, while
Kseniya Zonova (No. 3) and
Mila Majtan (No. 5) have each collected a win. Anais Emlie and Zonova paired up for a perfect 2-0 start at the No. 2 doubles position.
SLU swept Missouri Baptist for its lone victory of the young season. The Billikens dropped their matches against Big 12 foe Kansas and SEC opponent Arkansas. Mariluz Rojo Domingo tops the Billikens with three total victories and holds a 2-1 record in singles play.
