Redhawks Remain Undefeated; Tie Purple Aces, 0-0

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Southeast Missouri women's soccer continued its unbeaten streak with a 0-0 draw with the University of Evansville (1-4-1) Sunday evening.
 
The Redhawks remain undefeated on the season at 4-0-1 with the tie.
 
The Redhawks were narrowly outshot in the match, 15-14, but had one more shot on goal, 6-5. Paige Blankenheim and Maddy Cornell led the Redhawks with three shots each in the match.
 
Each team was called for seven fouls. Despite leading 2-1 in corner kicks after the first half, SEMO ended up trailing in the category in the end, 5-3.
 
Jasmin Hilliard got a shot off just seconds before the first half ended to narrow the shot deficit to 6-4. Southeast's lone shot on goal of the half came in the 32nd minute from Blankenheim. She led the Redhawks with a pair of shots in the opening half. UE had three shots on goal in the first half.
 
At the end of regulation, Blankenheim still led Southeast with three shots, two on goal. The Redhawks and Purple Aces each had eight shots in the second half as UE led 14-12.
 
The Redhawks had two shots in overtime while the Purple Aces only had one.
 
A total of three field players played all 110 minutes of the match for SEMO including Kaitlin Kuznacic, Natasha Minor, and Maddi Karstens.
 
Kindra Lierz (4-0-1) played all 110 minutes in goal for Southeast. She finished with five saves in the match and earned her 20th career shutout.
 
Whitney Biggs (1-4-1) played all 110 minutes in goal for UE while earning six saves.
 
Molly Lear had five shots for the Purple Aces, putting two on goal.
 
The Redhawks return to Houck Field for a pair of games this week beginning with Union University Wednesday at 7 p.m. Florida Atlantic will come to Cape Girardeau Sunday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
