Farley Claims Eighth In Discus; First Team All-America

EUGENE, Ore. - Southeast Missouri senior Kevin Farley took eighth place and earned First-Team All-American honors in the discus throw Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
In his first NCAA Championship appearance in discus, Farley closed out his Redhawk career with his best toss of the day measuring 57.90m (189' 11"). Nicholas Percy of Nebraska took gold with a top mark of 61.27m (201') in the event.
"Kevin is a one-of-a-kind athlete," stated head coach Eric Crumpecker. "We wished he could have had slightly longer throws, but it is not often somebody can come here and be successful in two separate events. He had a great week and was able to earn two All-American honors."
During his final season, Farley set new personal records in all three of his outdoor throwing events. He improved two school records he previously held, setting the outdoor shot put distance at 18.93m (62' 1.25") and hammer throw at 64.42m (211' 4"). His career best mark at discus measured in at 58.34m (191' 5").
When asked about Farley's career, Crumpecker said, "He could go down as the best thrower in school history. He improved his two school records in shot put and hammer while nearly setting a third in discus all in one season. Kevin has worked hard his whole time here and we are extremely proud."
