MARTIN, Tenn. - Brooke Kennedy pitched her second shutout and UT Martin (26-18, 10-7) completed a three-game sweep of Southeast Missouri (12-27, 6-11) with a 4-0 victory Sunday.
UTM pitching held Southeast to a .170 batting average over the weekend and outscored the Redhawks, 8-1, in the series.
Kennedy picked up her 14th win of the season, allowing five hits, striking out nine and walking two in her complete game.
Four pitchers saw action inside the circle for Southeast.
Aubrey Denno started the game and lasted just 1.1 innings after giving up a hit, two runs and a walk.
Kelsey Ihns allowed a three-run home run to Aeron Smith, the only hitter she faced in the bottom of the second inning.
Madeline Krumrey and
Mackenzie Hoelting finished out the game for the Redhawks.
Alicia Hansen gave UTM its other run in the fourth inning when she reached on a bloop single and later stole home on a double steal.
Denno (0-1) suffered the loss for Southeast.
UTM outhit the Redhawks, 9-5, with eight of its nine starters getting a hit.
Abby Tillotson led Southeast with two hits.
Riley Hayes,
Danielle Turner and
Savannah Carpenter followed with one apiece.
Southeast, which was swept in a series for the fifth time this season, returns to action at Eastern Kentucky on Apr. 23.
