NASHVILLE, Tenn. --Â Southeast Missouri (1-18, 0-9) dropped a 6-1 decision to Belmont (3-15, 1-9) Saturday.
In doubles play, the Redhawks were forced to forfeit the No. 3 position as
Anais Emelie remains sidelined due to an injury.
Ana Canahuate-Torres and
Mila Majtan fell to Abbie Mather and Laura Van Eeckhoudt at No. 2, 6-0.
Isabella Krupa and
Annisa Warasanti did not finish their match at the top of the lineup.
Emilia Montenegro collected Southeast's only victory in a three-set battle at the No. 4 position, 4-6, 7-6, 10-4. Warasanti dropped a three-set heatbreaker, 6-2, 3-6, 10-7, at No. 3. Krupa (No. 1), Majtan (No. 2) and Torres (No. 5) each fell in straight sets. Belmont won at No. 6 by forfeit.
"Everyone is having to play a spot or two higher than normal and the ladies have done a great job of rising to the occasion," stated Southeast head coach
Mary Beth Gunn. "We had some very competitive matches today and we are just focusing on improving every time we step onto the court."
Southeast ends its season at Tennessee State Sunday.
