ST. LOUIS, Mo. --Â Southeast Missouri (1-2) lost to Saint Louis (3-3) by a score of 7-0 in midweek action Tuesday.
Southeast opened with
Mariya Kostiuk and
Anais Emelie, dropping their No. 1 doubles match to Eleonore and Verginie Tchakarova, 6-3.
Isabella Krupa and
Ana Canahuate-Torres fell to Aspen Cervin and Madison Cook, 6-2, at the No. 2 spot.
Annisa Warasanti and
Mila Majtan closed out doubles play with a close 6-4 loss to Natalia Yacaman and Kelsey King.
In singles action, the Redhawks lost in straight sets in all of their matches. Kostiuk played at the top of the lineup and fell to Cervin, 6-3, 6-3. Krupa (No. 2) and Majtan (No. 3) lost by scores of 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-3, respectively. Emelie, Canahuate-Torres and Warasanti were also defeated in singles play.
"SLU is comparable to what a top team in the OVC looks like," said head coach
Mary Beth Gunn. "We just had too many errors today. Against a team of this caliber, we need to have everybody playing their best."
Southeast returns to action when it travels to regional-rival Southern Illinois on Feb. 19.
