GULF SHORES, Ala. – Central Arkansas (4-1) hit three home runs to overcome a three-run deficit and edge Southeast Missouri (1-3), 5-4, Sunday morning at the Sand Dollar Classic.

UCA trailed, 4-1, after four innings before mounting its comeback.

Solo home runs by Sam Forrest and Jessie Taylor quickly diced the Redhawks lead to 4-3 in the top of the fifth. Another home run, this time by Hannah Stirton, tied things up in the sixth.

With a runner on and one out in the top of the seventh, Taylor doubled down the left field line to score the winning run. Brianna McArthur reached on an error before scoring the decisive unearned run.

Shivaun Landeros then retired Southeast in order in the bottom half of the seventh to get the win. Landeros, who improved to 2-1, allowed just one hit and struck out five in 3.2 scoreless relief innings.

Southeast held a three-run advantage after scoring twice in the first and fourth innings.

Claire Wernig reached on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the first and scored on a two-out home run by
Haylee Krack, as the Redhawks pulled ahead, 2-0.

UCA's defense broke down in the fourth, committing four errors. As a result, Southeast scored two unearned runs to widen its lead to 4-1.
Sarah Messex and
Harli Wheeler touched home on those mishaps.

Haley Thogmartin (1-1) took the loss for Southeast.

Thogmartin relieved starter
Madeline Krumrey in the seventh inning. Krumrey gave up four runs on eight hits and struck out five in six frames.

Savannah Carpenter, Krack,
Darby Pruett,
Riley Hayes and
Nicole Deering had a hit.
