Hackmann Joins 1,000-Point Club in 74-63 Loss to EKU

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Redshirt-senior Olivia Hackmann became the 17th all-time member of Southeast Missouri's 1,000-point club in Saturday's 74-63 loss to Eastern Kentucky (4-10, 1-0 OVC). Southeast falls to 6-9, 0-2 OVC.
Hackmann recorded 26 points in the contest. She was 19 short of one thousand entering the game. The Chamois, Missouri native was one rebound shy of her fifth double-double, finishing with nine rebounds. Her 12 made field goals ties a career best. She is the eighth Division I member of Southeast's 1,000-Point Club and the first since Sonya Daugherty and Tarina Nixon joined in 2008-09.
Aside from Hackmann, Bri Mitchell and Adrianna Murphy each tallied double-digit point performances. Mitchell put up 16 points in the contest while Murphy had 10. Murphy's 10 points ties a season high set on Dec. 16 at Memphis. The sophomore also pulled in seven rebounds with a team-high five assists.
Deja Jones and Hackmann co-led the team in rebounding, each grabbing nine rebounds.
As a team, Southeast tied EKU with 49 total rebounds. The difference came in the Redhawks' 26 offensive boards to EKU's 16, resulting in 22 second-chance points.
Southeast shot 32 percent in the game while the Colonels were 41 percent from the floor. Southeast nearly shot season lows in 3-point shooting (26.3%) and free-throw shooting (46.2%).
The Redhawks and Colonels went toe-to-toe much of the first quarter while Southeast twice held leads in the frame. The Colonels finished the quarter with six unanswered points over the final 1:24 to overcome the early Redhawk lead and hold a one-point advantage after the opening 10 minutes, 18-17.
Hackmann led the Redhawks with six first-quarter points followed closely by five points from Mitchell.
Southeast Missouri's offense was stymied in the second quarter, being held to a lone field goal, scored by Hackmann. EKU outscored Southeast 13-2 in the frame to hold a 31-19 lead on the Redhawks at halftime.
Hackmann was the Redhawks' scoring leader at half with eight. Jones pulled in six first-half rebounds to lead in the team in the category.
While the third quarter was very back-and-forth, the Redhawks came out on top 22-18. Southeast cut the Colonel lead down to four, 42-38, with 2:31 to play in the third. EKU widened the lead back to eight going into the final quarter, 49-41.
The fourth quarter started hot for the Redhawks. Down 10, Southeast sparked an 8-3 run to pull within three, 58-55, with 5:04 to play. The run included the 3-pointer that gave Hackmann her 1,000th career point.
As soon as the Redhawks cut it to three, EKU went on an 11-2 run of their own to go back up by 12 with under a minute to play.
Hackmann put the exclamation point on 2016 with 12 fourth-quarter points.
Shavonte Naylor finished with a career-best 24 points and pulled in eight rebounds. Alexus Cooper had 13 points while Jalen O'Bannon had 10. Madison Wood led the Colonels with 10 rebounds and a season-high seven points.
The Redhawks will take to the road for four-straight games beginning Thursday at Tennessee State and Saturday at Belmont.
