CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri volleyball (4-21, 3-8 OVC) fell in straight sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-23) to Murray State (15-8, 10-1 OVC) Friday night at Houck Field House.
The Racers took an early advantage, eventually reaching a 21-16 lead. Southeast battled back late in the frame, forcing pressure back onto Murrray State pulling within one at 22-21. Exiting a timeout, the Racers regrouped and rolled to take a opening set victory.
Southeast responded taking the early advantage in the second frame before MSU would draw a tie at eight. The Racers remained ahead the rest of the game to take a 2-0 match advantage, capturing the set 25-21.
In a close finale which saw 10 ties and four lead changes, MSU completed the sweep with a 25-23 set win. The Redhawks hit a match best .256 during the game as
Krissa Gearring tallied six kills with a .750 hitting clip.Â
Gearring finished the night leading the Redhawks in kills with 12 while adding 11 digs.
Nzingha Clarke followed with nine kills, sporting a strong .364 hitting clip.
Katarina Rotta led SEMOÂ in both digs (12) and assists (22) during the match.
Southeast closes out the weekend tomorrow against Austin Peay. First serve against the Governors is scheduled for 5 p.m.
