CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's basketball (11-7, 4-1 OVC) earned a 61-47 home victory over Jacksonville State (7-10, 2-3 OVC) Wednesday evening at the Show Me Center.

Ashton Luttrull hit a career-best four 3-pointers en route to a team-high 16 points to lead the Redhawks to victory.

The game started with a slow moving first quarter. Southeast scored a minute and a half in. No one scored again until Luttrull drained a jumper at the 4:57 mark to make it 4-0.

Tied at five each, the Redhawks used a 6-0 run over the final 1:27 to take an 11-5 lead on the Gamecocks at the end of the first quarter.

The Gamecocks' five first-quarter points was the least the Redhawks have held an opponent to in a quarter this season.

Jacksonville State found its first lead of the game five minutes into the second quarter on a 3-point bucket by Briana Benson, 17-16 JSU.

The Gamecocks led by four with 2:45 left in the half, 23-19.

Luttrull hit back-to-back 3-point buckets to give the Redhawks a 25-23 advantage. A jumper by
Adrianna Murphy with 16 seconds left put the Redhawks up one, 27-26, going into halftime.

Luttrull led the Redhawks offense with eight first-half points.

The Redhawks held the Gamecocks to seven points while they rattled off 21 in the third quarter.

Southeast went on a 16-3 run to end the quarter. Luttrull put an exclamation point on the quarter with her third 3-point bucket with just seconds left, extending the Redhawk lead to 48-33.

The Redhawks found their largest lead of 18 points with 3:40 to play when Luttrull drained her fourth 3-pointer of the night, 59-41.

JSU went on a 6-0 run late in the period but the Redhawks were able to fend off the charging Gamecocks and hold on for the 61-47 victory.

Luttrull complimented her 16 points with five rebounds, three assists, and the Redhawks' only block of the game.

Bri Mitchell tallied 13 points in the contest; her ninth double-digit point performance in the last 10 games.

Deja Jones was the Redhawks' rebounding leader with six on the night; also tallying nine points. Three other Redhawks including
Erin Bollmann, Murphy, and Luttrull all had five boards against the Gamecocks.

Southeast took good care of the ball Wednesday evening, only committing 14 turnovers; only four of which coming in the second half.

Southeast held JSU to a 32% shooting percentage. Benson led the Gamecocks with 18 total points while Gretchen Morrison had 11.

The Redhawks will begin a two-game road swing starting Saturday at Tennessee Tech. The Redhawks and Golden Eagles tip off at 5:30 p.m. from Cookeville, Tennessee.
