Redhawks Drop 2-0 Decision to Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Southeast Missouri soccer team fell to the University of Louisville (2-2-1) Monday evening, 2-0. 

Southeast falls to 2-2-1 on the season. With the loss, Southeast's longest road winning streak in program history is snapped. The new record stands at seven games and ran from Sept. 19, 2014 to Aug. 21, 2015. 

The Cardinals scored in the eighth minute of the game when Shelby Cohen scored an unassisted goal from about 30 yards out. The shot sailed in over a leaping Kindra Lierz and into the back of the net to go up on Southeast, 1-0. 

The Cardinals kicked a penalty kickIn the 25th minute. Hannah Konermann's kick was high, keeping the score at 1-0. 

At the end of the first half, Louisville led Southeast in shots, 7-2. The Cardinals put four shots on goal while the Redhawks put one on goal. Lierz recorded three saves in the half. The Redhawks had the only corner kick of the match up to that point. 

The Cardinals extended the lead to 2-0 in the 80th minute of the match. Alison Price netted her first goal of the season off a cross from Rachel Avant. 

The Redhawks were outshot in the match, 16-5. The Redhawks put two shots on goal while the Cardinals put five on goal. Louisville had two corner kicks while Southeast had one. Louisville was called for six fouls and Southeast for four. 

Natasha Minor put up three shots in the match to lead the Redhawks, while putting one of those shots on goal. 

Lierz (2-2-1) played the full 90 minutes. She allowed both goals and recorded three saves in the match. 

Paige Brown played the complete 90 minutes in goal for the Cardinals and made two saves in the shutout of the Redhawks. 

The Redhawks will continue their road swing this weekend in Florida. Southeast will play Florida Atlantic on Friday and Lynn University on Sunday.
