Martin Punches Ticket to NCAA Championships in Triple Jump

AUSTIN, Texas – Sophomore Chris Martin punched his ticket to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the triple jump Saturday.
Martin finished fifth at the NCAA West Prelims with a jump of 15.75m (51-8 ¼).
Martin, a Cape Girardeau native, will join teammate Blake Smith at the NCAA Championships. Smith qualified for the championships in the long jump. The NCAA Championships will be held June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon.
Reggie Miller also competed in the triple jump Saturday but just missed the cut to advance to Eugene. Miller missed the top 12 with a 14th-place finish with a mark of 15.51m (50-10 ¾).
