Redhawks Beat Tennessee State, 7-2

Final Statistics

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Freshman India Davis went 4-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI to lead Southeast Missouri (7-18, 3-7) to a 7-2 victory over Tennessee State (9-22, 2-9) Friday afternoon.

With the win, the Redhawks snapped a five-game losing streak in Ohio Valley Conference play.

TSU led, 1-0, after two innings before Southeast tied the game when Davis scored an undearned run on a throwing error in the top of the third.

Davis came up in the fourth and extended the Redhawks lead to 3-1 on a one-out two-RBI single.

The Tigers managed to pull to within a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Southeast answered with two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings to nail down the win.

Taylor McDannold singled home both runs in the sixth, while Shelby Eccles and Kayla Fortner had run-scoring hits in the seventh. Fortner hit a solo home run over the left field wall and Eccles knocked in Claire Wernig on a single up the middle.

Madeline Krumrey (5-6) pitched her fourth complete game in as many starts en route to earning her third conference win of the season. Krumrey gave up two runs on eight hits, struck out five and walked two in seven innings.

Amber Galyon (2-9) suffered the loss. Galyon allowed 12 hits and seven runs. She struck out five and walked three, as well.

Offensively, Southeast registered 12 hits. It was the eighth time this year, where the Redhawks had double-digit hits.

Davis and Wernig (3-for-3) paved the way with a combined seven hits. McDannold, Fortner, Lindsey Patterson, Savannah Carpenter and Eccles added one each. Fortner's home run marked her team-high 10th this year, and as a result, she moved into a tie for sixth among Southeast's single-season leaders. Fortner shares that spot with Haylee Krack (2014) and Michelle Summers (2005).

The Redhawks led game two, 6-1, with one out in the top of the second inning when the game was called due to inclement weather.

Southeast will return to action for a doubleheader at Belmont Saturday.
