DES MOINES, Iowa / JONESBORO, Ark. – Southeast Missouri track and field athletes had impressive showings on the final day of the Drake Relays and A-State Red Wolves Open on Saturday.
At Drake Stadium, Blake Smith took second in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 10.40 seconds. Chris Martin placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 49'10" (15.19m).
Kayla Gutierrez took 12th in the hammer throw with a toss of 169' (51.51.m) while Sarah Hall finished 13th with a throw of 167'1" (50.92m).
At the A-State Red Wolves Open, Ayonna Cartwright finished second in the 100-meter dash in 11.83 seconds. Cheyenne Tunti placed second in the 400-meter dash in 55.70 seconds. Jovannie Spears finished fifth in the 400 in 56.96 seconds.
Jarred Pasley was second in the 400-meter dash in 47.96 seconds. Marc Maton was second in the 1,500-meter run in 3:55.36. Shane Brown finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:32.11 while Tyson Stoverink was third in 9:41.95. Jace Mortimer finished fifth in the same event in 9:50.37.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Brandon Chunn, Jordan Barber, Kameron Long and Pasley finished second in 3:14.79.
Kristen Richardet finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a finishing time of 11:28.90. Chris Navarro finished third in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.45 seconds. Mike Peters finished sixth in the same event with a sprint of 15.11 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Spears, Tunti, Megan Parks and Chelsea Miller finished third in 3:49.67.
Sydney O'Brien was fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:06.61 while Lindsey Seabaugh was fifth, finishing in 11:19.42. Craig Munie placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run in 15:05.75. Jacob Kent was fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.92m.
Nathan Cook finished fifth in the 3,000-meter run in 9:03.65. Pasley placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 21.74 seconds.
Parks placed sixth in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:20.40. Alyssa Rebecca finished sixth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:45.04.
Southeast will compete next weekend in the Memphis Invite on May 1-2.
