Redhawks Storylines
1. Southeast is the defending Midwest Independent Conference champion. Heading into the conference championship meet, the Redhawks have an average overall score of 192.275 this season. The squad averages a 48.423 on uneven bars, 48.361 on vault, 48.148 on floor exercise and 47.793 on the balance beam.
2. To claim last year's MIC Championship, the Redhawks scored a season-best 195.275. Following the win, nine Southeast gymnasts earned all-conference recognition.
3. The Redhawks recorded a season-high overall score of 194.550 in the victory vs. Texas Woman's on Feb. 15. Southeast established a season-best floor exercise score with a 48.675. Ashley Thomas won the all-around with a career-best 39.100 and won the vault and beam titles. Alyssa Tucker claimed the uneven bars and floor titles.
4. Against Centenary on March 6, the Redhawks posted a 49.000 on uneven bars, which was the highest score for Southeast on bars since 2004 and tied for the seventh-best mark in program history. Four gymnasts recorded career-highs on bars Friday. Taylor Penzien recorded the highest individual score of the season with a 9.875.
5. With a season-best 48.825 on vault Jan. 23 at Oklahoma, the Redhawks tied for the 10th-highest vault score in program history, marking the third time that score has been achieved. It was also done vs. Illinois State in 2009 and at Illinois-Chicago in 2008.
6. At Illinois-Chicago on Sunday, Southeast posted its highest balance beam score of the season with a 48.825. Ashley Thomas, Taylor Penzien, Erin Brady and Alexis Brawner established new career-highs with Thomas claiming the event victory with a 9.850.
