Redhawks Finish Fourth at MIC Championships

DENTON, Texas – Southeast Missouri posted its second-highest score of the season on Saturday with a 194.450 and finished fourth at the Midwest Independent Conference Championships. Lindenwood won its first MIC title with a 195.800 overall score, edging Texas Woman's, who finished at 195.750.
Ashley Thomas tied for fourth in the all-around with a career-best 39.225 and tied for second on vault with a career-high 9.900, which tied the sixth-best score in program history. She tied for fourth on floor exercise with a career-best 9.875. Her performance earned first-team all-conference honors.
In the first rotation, Southeast set a new season-high on floor with a 48.725. Thomas established a new career-best with a 9.875 while Brady also set a career-high with a 9.825 in her final collegiate meet. Jordan Clark added a 9.775.
The Redhawks then moved to vault and recorded another season-high score with a 48.950. Thomas anchored with a 9.900, tying Kate Farrington, Megan Fosnow and Brianna Gaddie as the only gymnasts in Southeast history to achieve the feat. Bailey Walker set a new season-high and tied a career-best with a 9.850 on vault while Alexis Brawner contributed a 9.800. Brady added a 9.750, which is the second-highest score of her career. Clark and Alexandria Stokes also posted new career-highs on vault with a 9.650 and 9.600, respectively.
Through two rotations, the Redhawks led with a score 97.675. Illinois-Chicago and Texas Woman's were tied for second place at 97.625. Lindenwood was in fourth at 97.300.
During the third rotation, Southeast posted a 48.775 on uneven bars, led by a 9.800 from Taylor Penzien. Lauren Israel and McKenna Stanley both added scores of 9.775. Thomas contributed a 9.725.
To wrap things up, the Redhawks posted a 48.000 on balance beam, paced by a 9.725 by both Penzien and Thomas. Brady concluded her career with a 9.650.
Illinois State placed third with a 194.550. Illinois-Chicago and Centenary finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
