St. Louis, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri baseball team defeated Saint Louis University Tuesday, 9-7. Southeast has scored 34 runs in their last three games and are sporting a three-game winning streak.

Southeast returns to .500 on the season at 7-7. Saint Louis is 8-7 after the loss.

Saint Louis touched home first when Jake Henson homered to left field in the second inning, giving the Billikens a 1-0 lead.

The Redhawks not only tied the game in the top of the third, they took a massive lead on the Billikens.
Branden Boggetto hit a leadoff double followed by
Clayton Evans laying down a bunt for a hit. Boggetto scored on a sac fly from
Trevor Ezell.
Jason Blum was hit by a pitch then
Garrett Gandolfo hit a monster home run to right to put Southeast up 4-1. After a walk and a strikeout,
Cole Ferguson hit a two-out, two-run double to center, plating
Ryan Rippee and
Andy Lennington. Boggetto switched places with Ferguson with his second double of the inning to extend the lead to 7-1 in the third.Â

With one out in the bottom of the fourth, Henson hit his second home run of the day in as many at-bats, this time a two-run homer, to make it 7-3. Redhawk starter
Garret Stockton was pulled for
Ryan Lenaburg. Josh Bunselmeyer followed with a solo home run of his own to make it 7-4 after four innings.

The Billikens scored an unearned run off Lenaburg in the fifth inning to continue chipping away at the Redhawk lead, 7-5.

It became an all-new ballgame in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Alex Siddle inherited runners on second and third with one out. James Morisano grounded out to score a run and put the tying run on third. Alex King singled up the middle to tie the game at 7-7 going to the seventh inning.

The Redhawks recaptured the lead in the eighth inning. Ezell drew a leadoff walk to start the inning. He advanced to second on a sac bunt by Blum and third on a groundout. Rippee was intentionally walked and took second on a fielder's indifference. A wild pitch allowed Ezell to score and Rippee take third.
Dalton Hewitt then dropped a single into shallow center field to put Southeast up 9-7.

Matthew Wade came in and pitched the ninth inning, sending the Billiken hitters down in order to record his first career save as a Redhawk.

Southeast outhit Saint Louis 12-9 in the game. Boggetto finished with three hits and Rippee finished with two of his own.

Siddle (1-0) earned the win in two and two-thirds innings of scoreless baseball. He allowed only two hits, struck out four hitters, and walked none. Wade had two strikeouts in the ninth en route to the save.

Robert Plohr (1-3) recorded the loss for SLU. He pitched four and two-thirds innings in relief and allowed the go-ahead runs in the eighth. He had six walks and no strikeouts.

The Redhawks will continue Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend against Morehead State.
