CHICAGO, Ill. - Melissa Martin collected her team-high third singles victory, as Southeast Missouri (0-8) lost to Illinois-Chicago (2-4) by a score of 6-1 Sunday.
Martin, who improved to 3-2 in singles play this year, defeated Melika LeBlanc, 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 6 position. The win came after Kateryna Stoianova (No. 1), Mariya Kostyuk (No. 2), Viviana Ortiz (No. 3), Maria Montenegro (No. 4) and Annisa Warasanti (No. 5) dropped matches in the five spots ahead of her.
In doubles action, the Flames took the point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The match between Ann-Sophie Hahn/Jackie Altansarnai and Martin/Warasanti was unfinished at No. 3.
Southeast returns to action at regional-rival Southern Illinois Mar. 7.
