ROCKFORD, Ill. - Southeast Missouri (0-6) dropped a 7-0 decision to Northern Illinois (8-0) Friday afternoon at the Boylan Tennis Center.
NIU won in straight sets in the first five singles positions. Annisa Warasanti then won the first set of her match against Emily Stefancic at the No. 6 spot before Stefancic forced a tiebreaker and earned the victory. Kateryna Stoianova (No. 1), Mariya Kostyuk (No. 2), Annah Makhneva (No. 3), Viviana Ortiz (No. 4) and Maria Montenegro (No. 5) joined Warasanti in the singles lineup.
In doubles, the Huskies won at No. 2 and No. 3. Stefancic and Arantza De La Torre beat Makhneva and Stoianova, 6-2, and Mary Malkin and Evelyn Youel defeated Melissa Martin and Montenegro, 6-4. The No. 1 bout between Nelle Youel and Christian Alvarez and Kostyuk and Ortiz was unfinished.
Southeast returns to action against Chicago State Saturday. Start time is 9 a.m., CT.
