Homecoming Games
Southeast is 11-12 all-time in Homecoming games since moving to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision in 1991. The Redhawks are looking to snap a two-game losing streak in such matchups after losing to Eastern Kentucky (2013) and UT Martin (2012) on Homecoming the last two years.

Series History
Tennessee State holds a 12-10 advantage in its overall series against Southeast. The Tigers have won each of the last three meetings between these teams and averaged 45 points per game in that span. The Redhawks are 8-4 all-time against TSU at home.

Ranked FCS Teams
No. 20 Tennessee State is the first ranked Ohio Valley Conference opponent Southeast faces this season. Saturday marks the third time the Redhawks play a ranked Football Championship Subdivision team this year. Southeast is 3-17 all-time against ranked FCS foes since 2004. Southeast, which upset then-No. 3 Southeastern Louisiana (Sept. 20), has never beaten two ranked opponents in a season.

Name Game
Southeast and Tennessee State both have a player named Lewis Washington. The Redhawk running back, Washington ran for 44 yards and a touchdown on 45 carries this season. TSU's Washington is a freshman defensive lineman.

Speaking of Washington
Lewis Washington set a school record and tied an NCAA record when he ran 99 yards for a touchdown at Tennessee State last season. Washington scored on Southeast's longest rushing play with 4:38 left in the fourth quarter of the Redhawks 40-16 loss to the Tigers on Oct. 5. Washington finished with 101 yards and a TD on just two carries in that game.

Halfway Point
The Redhawks hit the halfway point of their 2014 season on a two-game winning streak. Southeast, which won each of its last two games by no more than four points, is on a winning streak for the first time since 2010. The Redhawks beat then-No. 3 Southeastern Louisiana (24-23) in Cape Girardeau on Sept. 20 and UT Martin, 31-27, on Sept. 27 in Martin, Tenn.

Redhawks Win OVC Opener
Southeast won an Ohio Valley Conference opener on the road for the first time in four years when it beat UT Martin, 31-27, on Sept. 27. The Redhawks beat the Skyhawks in Martin for the first time since 2003. Southeast improved to 7-17 all-time in OVC openers.

A Look at the League
All nine Ohio Valley Conference schools have now opened league play. Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee State, Jacksonville State, Southeast and Eastern Illinois were victorious in their conference openers. EKU is the only undefeated team left in the OVC with a 4-0 overall record this season.

More OVC Honors
For the second-straight week, Southeast won two of the Ohio Valley Conference awards. Wide receiver Peter Lloyd was named OVC Co-Offensive Player of the Week and punter Alex Knight was voted Specialist of the Week on Sept. 28. Lloyd had a career-high 10 catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns in Southeast's 31-27 win over UT Martin. He had over 100 receiving yards in the first half and scored his first touchdown on a 65-yard pass from Kyle Snyder to tie the game at 7-7 with 9:03 left in the first quarter. A native of Caruthersville, Mo., Lloyd then scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 28-yard pass from Snyder with 9:04 remaining in the game. His 179 receiving yards are an OVC single-game high this season. Knight, who hails from Ft. Laurderdale, Fla., played a big part in Southeast's special teams effort that made a difference in the Redhawks win. He punted three times in the game, averaging 45.7 yards per punt. Knight also had a 51-yard punt, his fourth of 50 or more yards this season. One of his punts was downed at the UTM 1-yardline. The Redhawks executed a fake punt, as well. Jacksonville State's Eli Jenkins (Co-Offensive), Tennessee State's Gabe Terry (Defensive) and Eastern Illinois' Jalen Whitlow (Newcomer) rounded out the honorees.

Receiving Performances
Peter Lloyd's 179 yards against UT Martin (Sept. 27) marked the seventh-most receiving yards in a game at Southeast. Lloyd fell just 21 yards shy of reaching 200, a feat that was accomplished only two times by Redhawk receivers (211 by Art Miller at Evansville on Oct. 4, 1969; 204 by Miles Edwards vs. Southwest Baptist on Aug. 28, 2008). He also became the second receiver to get over 100 yards in a game this season.

Pulling Rank
Southeast leads the Ohio Valley Conference in punting (39.0 ypp), kickoff coverage, field goals (5-of-5, 1.000 pct.), PAT kicking percentage (1.000 pct., 24-of-24), sacks allowed (3) and fourth down conversions (7-of-8, 87.5 pct.) through five games this season. Nationally, the Redhawks rank fifth in fourth down conversions, eighth in kickoff return defense, 10th in sacks allowed, 12th in passing yards per completion (14.78), 13th in punt return defense and 16th in scoring offense (36.6 ppg).

Over 1,000
Kyle Snyder went over 1,000 passing yards this season when he completed 19-of-30 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns at UT Martin (Sept. 27). Snyder and UTM's Jarod Neal (1,177) are the only two quarterbacks in the Ohio Valley Conference with over 1,000 passing yards in 2014. He has completed 73-of-129 passes for 1,081 and 10 touchdowns in five starts this year. Snyder is averaging 216.2 yards per contest and threw for over 250 yards twice in 2014. He leads the OVC in total offense (261.4 ypg), as well.

I Think I'll Pass
Kyle Snyder has thrown a touchdown pass in each of his five starts this season. Snyder threw at least two touchdowns on three occasions. He leads the Ohio Valley Conference with 10 passing touchdowns and is two away from cracking Southeast's Top-10 single-season list.

Worth Mentioning
Southeast ended a streak of six seasons where it went without a 250-yard passer. Kyle Snyder threw for a career-high 269 yards two times this year. Snyder is the first 250-yard passer since Houston Lillard threw for 331 yards vs. Missouri State on Sept. 20, 2008.

Opening Drives
The Redhawks have not given up a touchdown on an opening drive in five games this season. UT Martin came close to becoming the first team to accomplish that when it used a 60-yard pass from Jarod Neal to Rod Wright on the second play of the game. Southeast, however, recovered a fumble at its own 1-yardline. Kansas is the only opponent who put points on the board during an opening drive against the Redhawks this year. Matthew Wyman kicked a 43-yard field goal with 11:12 left in the first quarter.

Fourth Quarter Stops
Southeast's defense made a big statement when it stopped UT Martin on fourth down twice in the final nine minutes of the game. The Skyhawks had a 1st-and-Goal at the Redhawks 5-yardline when Jarod Neal threw four-straight incompletions against a smoldering defense. Neal's fourth pass of that series was broken up by Tim Hamm-Bey at the goal line. UTM later faced a 4th-and-4 at Southeast's 39-yardline when Eriq Moore broke up a pass intended for William Tanner.

Red Zone Defense
The Redhawks defense did not allow a touchdown and forced one turnover in the red zone at UT Martin (Sept. 27). It marked the second time this season where Southeast denied an opponent of a touchdown inside its 20-yardline.

McRoberts and Carrol Sidelined
Starting wide receiver Paul McRoberts and starting defensive end Selwyn Carrol are out indefinitely with the same injury. McRoberts suffered a Lisfranc fracture in his right foot early in the third quarter against Southeastern Louisiana (Sept. 20). Carrol sustained his injury in the first half against the Lions and did not return for the final two quarters. McRoberts and Carrol could miss at least four weeks.

About Tennessee State
No. 20/21 Tennessee State comes to Cape Girardeau on a three-game winning streak. TSU, which is 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference, posted its first league win over Tennessee Tech (Sept. 20) at home. The Tigers lead the nation in total defense (207.4 ypg allowed) and sacks (5.0 spg). TSU has a staggering 25 sacks for a loss of 131 yards this season. The Tigers, however, will go up against a Southeast offense which leads the OVC in fewest sacks allowed with three. In addition, TSU has gained a league-high 15 turnovers (5 fumbles, 10 interceptions) in 2014. Linebacker Gabe Terry leads the conference with seven sacks, while De'Ante Saunders tops the OVC in interceptions (3) and Nick Thrasher is fourth among league individuals in tackles (43).
