Redhawks Cross Mississippi Saturday for Saluki Invitational

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri cross country teams will head to Carbondale, Illinois Saturday to take part in the Saluki Invitational.
The women's 5k race will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the men's 8k race at 10:45.
The meet will be held at the Southern Illinois University Cross Country Course. The course is located near the Abe Martin baseball field.
"We are using this weekend to work on our racing strategy for Louisville," said head coach Ryan Lane. "Instead of racing all out, we plan on running as a team to try and close the gap between our three, four, and five runners."
The Redhawks last ran at the Forest Park Cross Country Festival in St. Louis, Missouri. The men finished second while the women came home with a fourth-place finish.
Individually, Shane Brown was once again the top-finisher for the men. Brown finished 10th with a time of 19:13. Rebekah Lawson paced the women with a ninth-place finish in 18:18. Gloria Westlake finished right behind Lawson in tenth in 18:20.
