CHARLESTON, Ill. - Southeast Missouri (9-9, 3-4) came up on the short end of a 5-2 decision at Eastern Illinois (9-4, 3-4) Sunday afternoon. The Redhawks lost their fourth-straight match.
Southeast again scored its points in singles play, winning at the No. 2 and No. 6 positions. Valeriia Nagovitcina defeated Kelly Iden, 6-1, 6-1, and Martin took care of K. Stadalninkaite, 6-0, 6-2. The Redhawks lost in straight sets at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 spots.
In doubles action, EIU won the point when Janelle Prisner/Sephora Boulbahaiem defeated Valeriia Kashina/Ekaterina Donetckova, 8-1, at No. 1, and Ali Foster/Hannah Kimbrough downed Annisa Warasanti/Katy Brady, 8-2, at No. 3.
Southeast plays its third match in three days when it faces Jacksonville State in Paducah, Ky. Monday. Start time is 11 a.m., CT.
